[  The Knights' mission to stop the signal and prevent Draken's cult from spreading whatever subliminal message  was lurking beneath Keijen Blade's performance was a success.  It didn't come without its bumps in the road, however:  Alexander Anderson showed up, and the Knights ran afoul of the Mind Master.    Buffy nearly died fighting Anderson, but in the end, he was defeated, beheaded, and hopefully put to death forever.   Finnick, though, found himself thrust into a mental illusion that convinced him he might still be in the Hunger Games, and left him uncertain about whether any of his life here was real.  

Another surprise came in the form of an announcement by Nadia Reichenov, an artist working with Crombe and company, that she was changing her band name and taking things in a 'new direction'.   This direction was perhaps revealed when after her performance, she approached the Knights in Rafael's dressing room - and handed them the necklace that connects her to the Nightmare God Malaak'a, saying she was willing to tell them everything.  ]

Sure they do. But the jokes about 'em aren't nearly as funny. I could taunt you about all the orgies you'll be having but, well. [He looks Des up and down and raises an eyebrow.] That's not likely.

[he steps casually into spike's space, because guuurl.] Only because I have sharing issues.

[bigbad]

[Spike doesn't back down because he's allergic to backing away from any challenge even if it's kind of gay. This is how he ended up dancing with Zarad at Vi's wedding.]

That wasn't actually an offer, mate. Don't you need a girl involved for it to be bisexual?

[Des smirks like something is terribly funny and backs off.] What? I'm just saying I don't share well. Bedroom's no place for bloodsports.

[he said to the vampire, cheekily.]

Don't knock it til you've tried it. [Says the vampire who definitely has zero memories of bloodsports in the bedroom. Shhh.]

I think we're fine without it, thanks, but you're welcome to all the sadism and bloodplay your unbeating heart desires.

And that's why I stick with the ponce jokes. [Spike shrugs a shoulder blithely.] They're funnier.

Yeah, I'm gonna definitely miss your wit while you're off... being a groupie.

Bodyguard. I won't be going under cover, so I get the cooler title.

How nice for you. I hear that worked out real good for Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner.

Bloody hell, why does everyone think that's what this is about? I'm just doing my job.

My job for a long time was looking after Jade. [He raises his eyebrows.] You saw where that ended up.

[at least he's gotten to the point where he can almost mention Jade without a hitch in his voice.]

[bigbad]

Yeah, and no offense, mate, but that wasn't exactly the picture of a happy ending. [He waited too long, she regained her lost memories, did Spike's generally least favorite thing for anyone to do and made out with Rafael, then Rafael shot her. Spike does not want any of those things.]

[nothingsodivine]

[dead-eyed stare.] No, it wasn't. [He sticks his tongue in his cheek and shakes his head.] But everything happens for a reason... And if I don't choose to believe that one thing wasn't for a good one, I'd go crazy.

[bigbad]

Fair enough. [Spike isn't going to try and convince Des that a pointless death couldn't possibly have a good reason attached to it. He's not that cruel.] Still hoping this experience doesn't live to me having to find that same reason.

[nothingsodivine]

You and me both, brother. [He pats Spike on the shoulder.] Take care of yourself... And her. And, for the love of God, make her sign with NOVA. I already told Burt to snatch her up ages ago. It'll give her something to help her along anyway.

[bigbad]

Doubt I can make her do anything. [But with her powers, she might be able to make him do things. That's definitely a comforting thought.] But I can try. Something tells me she'll be more interested in the indie scene, though. Kickstarter and the like.

[nothingsodivine]

Yeah. Kickstarter. [the fuck is that even.] Whatever floats her Goth Rock boat.

[bigbad]

It's a website. [Isn't he helpful.] So that artists can support themselves without relying on bastards like Burt.

Uh-huh. [so skeptical.] Internet's got everything these days.

Get with the times, old man. World's a different place than when you were riding around on dinosaurs or whatever.
