after-party ♔ april

♬ Jeux d'eau - Ravel
WHO || Wynn, any and all Knights not currently on missions (if you are uncertain if your character would be at the castle for this, ask!)ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.
WHAT || Squiring Ceremony Afterparty
WHERE || Knights Headquarters, the Ballroom
WHEN || April 1st, 2015, 6:00PM [backdated]
HOW || Prose OR Actionspam
The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).
The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.
Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.
Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

So, here's one teenaged werewolf to greet him.]
Hey, congrats. [after she speaks, she sips her water.]

Thanks. I think. Still trying to decide if congratulations are actually what's in order here, but I'll take it.

Nick Hawley, newest Knight... thing at your service.

[bows, especially playful ones, are cooler than handshakes, let's be real, so hey she goes for one too because why not? she doesn't really try though, so it's not a super serious attempt.] Erica Reyes, co-knight thing, also at your service.

He just grins when she bows in return, relaxing subtly at finding someone comfortable enough to play along. He flashes her a grin, dimple peeking out and his blue eyes warming. In truth, he'd been a little worried about fitting in here, with a bunch of people who called themselves Knights. Not his typical crowd, to be honest. ]
A pleasure, Miss Reyes. So. You been one of these Knight things long? Have you had to slay a dragon yet? Because really, I thought that was a necessity for the title somewhere along the line.

Is that a metaphor or am I missing an inside joke here somewhere?

Are you... Is there a punch line here, or was that actually for real?
[ Okay, so he met a wendigo once, but a werewolf? He's not sure if he should be fascinated right now or pissing himself. ]

Yeah, that's a good way to describe it. Not that I'd even scratched the surface of what was real back home, I'm pretty sure, but then I walked into this place to find a sorcerer blotting out the sun in the middle of New York City. That was a bit more out-in-the-open than I was used to.

As weird as that probably was to walk into, at least out on the open is better than being captain of the S.S. Totally Oblivious To Things?

Hey now. [ He smirks. ] I happened to enjoy captaining that ship for a good long while. I have very fond memories of those days. There were much fewer things trying to eat me.

I think a lot of people would like those days in their lives - yeah. You had a cool flag design for the ship, though, right? [important questions.]
Hopefully there were actually fewer things trying to eat you, and not just the fact that you didn't know about them but they were still trying to eat you. Personally, if something's wanting to make me into a dinner, I'd like to know about it so I can either fight it or run like hell, depending what it is. [if it's a 7,000 foot tall monster, she's not gonna try.]

[ His reply is wry and bemused as he leans back against the wall, crossing his arms over his chest. ]
And of course I did. Something something mythological until I figured out whatever it was was probably real, because that's been my luck lately. Probably after one of those times it tried to eat me. [ He flashes her a sharp grin at that, blue eyes bright with humor. ]
Either way, I suppose knowing is better not knowing, no matter how much I'd like to go back to the 'not' side of things most days. Everything seemed a lot simpler then.

Definitely one of those cost/benefit, pros/cons things. One one hand - can live in an ignorance is 'bliss that makes me clueless' bubble, on the other - do live in an ignorance is 'bliss that makes me clueless' bubble.
