The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

Amy looks pretty fly as she swans over with a glass of wine. (disguise 28) She's equal opportunity so she'll hit the ladies as well as the men. Hit on, at least. She's rubbish at the proper hitting part, so far, but she's working on it!

Cordy's too young for Standard Amy Pond Accidental Flirting™.

Cybill, however, is not. "Hi. First day?"

[crashing]

"As official? Yeah," she answers. "Been in the castle for a bit. Just wandering, trying not to get lost."

It's happened though. This place is huge and Cybill is good at navigating, but not in a new environment. "I'll get it, though. I'm Cybill. In case you didn't catch the big announcing part."

[keptbiting]

"I was sort of distracted, actually." But she sticks out her hand with a friendly, albeit apologetic, smile that she hopes makes up for not paying attention to all the pomp and circumstance.

"I'm Amy, Amy Pond."

[crashing]

"It's nice to meet you," Cybill replies. "And I don't blame you. I'm pretty sure that's the only one of those I'll be attending. Bit too - formal for me."

[keptbiting]

"Yeah, I haven't gone to one since my own as well. I tried, but I felt like an anchovy, all packed in there.' Her nose wrinkles, still smiling genially.

"Parties are pretty decent though. Good way to meet people."

[crashing]

"It doesn't get old? Same party, every month? I mean, after a bit, I'd think it'd become repetitive. Even if there are new people."

[keptbiting]

"I dunno, I've not been here long enough for them to be old." And Amy is a social butterfly. She loves meeting new people, the squiring parties are a surefire way to do just that.

[crashing]

Cybill shrugs, glancing around. It seems like a lot of fuss to just do it over again in a month. Everyone dressing up in something they wouldn't wear normally. It makes for a fancy first impression, but not an accurate one.

"How long've been here?"

[keptbiting]

"Since October." She shrugs, sipping her wine.

[crashing]

"People nice here?" she asks, trying to sort out if she made the right choice or not. It's not like she thinks it was the wrong choice, but really -- she's not sure about secret agencies and supernatural creatures just yet.

[keptbiting]

"It's a mix, like everywhere. But I'd say yeah, more than not." It's a knighthood, she has a tendency to believe that is a good sign. And that the people here want to do good.

She's naive enough still to think that means they're all great.

[crashing]

"A mix is better than most places people work, I'd think. I mean, you've always got your problems, but it's hard to sort out when you're new."
