The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope none of you are shy. They're all here to meet you.

[ Ethan is over the suits. He no1curr. Instead, he's pulling a clothing bag out and hanging it up on one of the racks. He unzips the front and inside is a vintage Royal Air Force uniform with all of his awards and rank affixed to it, including loopy cords that, for anyone who spoke the language, indicated his unit. He pulled it out and began to meticulously put it on, snapping fasteners to the bottom of his undershirt and the top of his socks to keep his shirt tucked and his socks up, even. ]

[Spike, who's pretty much gone for as much black as he can possibly find, pauses as he buttons his shirt up and looks over at Ethan. Because oh my god can you get any poncier than sock fasteners.]

Army man, hmm?

[ Omg first of all they are called shirt-tuckers and second of all they are not poncy. Fuck you, Spike. X( ]

Royal Air Force, actually. [ He pulls the wool jacket on over his shirt and then taps the wings above his nametag. ] It's how they found me. What about you? [ He starts doing up the big brassed buttons of his jacket. ]

[Spike turns away and starts buttoning up his shirt.] Bugger if I know.

[And they are DEFINITELY poncy.]

You don't know how they found you and you decided to join up anyway? [ His tone is judgy to the max. He'll pull his trousers up now, carefully fastening the belt and making sure that it's facing the right direction despite the fact that the buckle is covered by his jacket so NO ONE WOULD BE ABLE TO TELL ANYWAY. ]

[Spike's going to take a moment to look back just as judgily. Spike might do things without thinking but at least he DOES NOT CARE WHAT DIRECTION HIS BELT FACES.]

Have to make a living somehow, don't I?

[ SHUT UP IT'S IMPORTANT. EVERY PIECE OF THIS UNIFORM IS IMPORTANT AND MEANS SOMETHING FUCK YOU. X( ]

Most people with that mentality enlist in the army, not the Knighthood.

[Spike scoffs.] Army. No bloody thanks. [He doesn't like or trust the army, and he doesn't know why. Plus, he's not fond of taking orders or being regimental and ordered. He hopes that's less of an issue with the Knighthood.]

[ That gets a raised eyebrow, because he can't help being a little curious about what this guy's issue with the army was. But, it wasn't that unpopular a response. So, he just adjusted his uniform one final time and checked the mirror as he grabbed his cap. ]

[bigbad]

[Spike glances at the mirror too and gets the same nasty shock he keeps getting. No reflection. It's still weird. He steps out of the mirror's line of sight and finishes what little extra dressing he has to do.]
