The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[ thea enjoys the parties. she doesn't go to every single one because she doesn't want to get bored with them, but they've been good so far. she's even enjoying herself until she turns and comes face to face with sara lance.

sara lance who is dead.

the color drains from her face and her glass slips out of her hand (will save 2) and, sadly, all she can think is "sin, will be so happy". except sin and laurel aren't here and sara is dead, so thea must be seeing a ghost. ]

[Sara, who is completely oblivious to the fact that she dies in her future back home or the circumstances of which it happened, doesn't really register what might be going through Thea's mind at the moment.]

Thea, hey! [she smiles at her, glad to see a familiar face.] You're not that surprised to see me are you? [she says it in a teasing tone, like wow thea you've known her for a while since she's hung out with oliver for years, pls no need to drop glasses over this.]

[ the smile disorients her. it's so familiar. the lances were a staple of thea's childhood, laurel and sara, but then sara and ollie were ripped away. even through her self-obsessed haze of teenage drama, she watched laurel and her dad mourn. and then they were back, like a miracle.

but it didn't last very long. ]

You... You were-- [ the words catch on her tongue as she shakes her head the tiniest bit. people don't just come back to life through the veil, that's not how it works.

belatedly, she seems to realize she dropped her glass and takes a step back. ] Shit. [ she looks down, noting the glass dust and champagne clinging to her shoes, spreading across the floor, a pinprick of blood from a tiny piece of glass embedded in her ankle. ] Damn it, these were new.

[canaria]

Gone from Starling City for a while? [she'll just finish where she thinks Thea is going with that. too bad Sara's WRONG.] I know.

Here, we can go search for some towels to clean this and your shoes up as best we can.

[ DEAD! SO VERY DEAD. HELLA DEAD. luckily none of those words come out of her mouth. not out of any effort to protect sara and her feelings but because they just get stuck in thea's throat. ]

There's some at the bar. [ that is easy to say. that is not earth shattering. it's just paper towels and she absently indicates back toward the bar. ]

[Sara walks to the bar, grabs a giant handful of paper towels and returns a few seconds later. She hands half of them to Thea as she takes the other half and starts wiping the floor.]

Any other familiar faces I should know about here?

[ she crouches down to aid in the clean up, tucking her short hair back as she attempts to collect the glass shards and gives herself time to settle her nerves. ]

Ollie's here. Somewhere.

[she really isn't surprised to learn this.] I'll have to go hunt him down later, then. Did you two join this together?

Not... really. We were squired at the same time, but I got here first. I didn't realize he was here until then.

I'm sure you were both glad to see each other. [she says seriously -- they'd been separated too long before, when Oliver was on the island ( /etc., thank u season 3 ) they deserve to never have to go through long periods of that again.]

You didn't drop your glass when you saw him, did you? [she's teasing now with that ok.]

[ that makes her laugh, a short bubble of mirth in the middle of her tenuous grasp on her emotions. ]

No. We, uh, sorta made a scene in the middle of the ceremony. [ she straightens up, cradling the paper towel in her hand. ] A loud Queen family special. Mom would've been proud, it was obnoxious.

[canaria]

[that she can 100% see. yep. just another day.] Hey, if you're gonna make a scene at a moment like that, you might as well go obnoxious. Go big or go home. Or something like that. [she laughs as well.]

Now I feel like the bar for family reunions has been set for me if Laurel or our parents ever show up here. [as if A N Y O N E can actually compete with the Queens on this....]

Um... speaking of Laurel. [ YEAH SHE'S GONNA NIP THIS IN THE BUD RIGHT NOW. ] There's a woman here, Felicity, she sorta... looks a lot like Laurel. At first glance, at least, once she's right in front of you it's more like a family resemblance, but I don't want you to be caught off guard.

[ the subtext being that laurel obviously isn't here. ]

...Huh. That sounds... interesting. [more like odd. she's sure she'll be startled at first anyway, even for a second if she sees her from a distance, but the reminder will at least come quickly to her now that she's been warned, that no - it's not her.] Thanks for the heads up - I'll definitely be trying to keep that in mind if I do see Felicity.

She's nice, but... [ but looks like laurel. thea knows she can't hold it against her, but. she does a little bit because thea's garbage. ]

I'd say here's hoping things don't get weirder than that, but ...

Which means if I see someone taking their half-unicorn/half-dragon pet out for a walk on the grounds, you'll hear about it. [because that sure would be a sight.]
