The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope none of you are shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc!  This goes for... any time.

[Scout sweeps her gaze up and down the table, transfers her glass into the crook of her elbow, and carries a plate in her hand. Though she'd like to load up she is selective, collecting small portions of several different things. She's getting used to Earth foods, but there are still some unfamiliar things, like this fried rice-y thing.]

Is this any good?

[Andie looks over and her eyes light up!] Yes! It's awesome. [She dips in quickly to take a pretty large serving for herself. She's being good and not entirely stuffing her face, but... she gets hungry. Speedster metabolism.]

[She snorts slightly and collects a scoop once Andie's done, just a few bites worth.]

My first meals here didn't really agree with me, so I'm trying to be more careful now.

I'm the new one with the really long name. Call me Scout, okay?

[Andie nods vigorously and offers Scout a hand.] I'm Andie! Nice to meet you!

[Not being entirely familiar with the customs here, Scout takes her by the wrist so that her own wrist is in Andie's hand and pumps twice before withdrawing. Her fingers are harsh-textured with callus.]

Same here. So they have these every month?

Uh, no, only when there are new squires. [Weird handshake, but it's cool, Andie's pretty aware of how many different places people can come from, many of them not even a little bit earth. And apparently not always even Shadow World now.] I mean, that's been way frequent lately, but it's not always.

Since the Veil thing changed, right?

[Scout tilts her head just a little] I'm sorry, is it rude to ask if you're a native or came through it? You don't have to answer.

No, it's okay! I was born here, but my great-great-great someone came through. My family's been with the knights ever since. [She tilts her head.] Guessing you did come through?

[Nodding.]

Yeah, not that long ago. I'm getting used to this world. The knights seem all right.

They're great! I mean, kinda biased? Cause they're way cooler than the people I knew in California and all my friends are here and, you know, am one, but seriously, they're good people.

You've certainly got a nice code. I could have done without that blindfolding thing.

[She shrugs, and glances around, and gives Andie a pleading look.]

Do you know anything about Sir [a hitch] Solace? It's just that Wynn assigned me to him, and I don't know a thing about the man. I think it was him I saw at the ceremony, but that's about it. If you can't tell me anything that's okay, I just... kind of in the dark.

Sir Solace? No sense of humor. He shuts down the infirmary entirely on April Fool's Day! And he's way old and bald and grumpy. But... [She shrugs.] He's good people. With all the healing and stuff. You will never have to worry about paper cuts again!

[burnsbright]

Aww. April Fools Day, huh? [She says it in part so she'll remember to look it up later, and so she can focus on that and not the memory of her Solace.] I think I can manage though. I hope so, anyway.
