The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[ Sebastian had almost come in the normal clothes he likes to wear. He wanted to be comfortable more then impress. However a nagging voice in the back of his head told him he had better try harder. It took him a little longer to make his way out as he had been picky as could be about what he would wear once he started looking. Too bad the blue and red kind of clashed. (disguise 15)

He was not worried about any mess ups, not too much anyway. When he made his way out he took in the sight of those around. He wondered if it was always like this.]

[Bo did, in fact, come in the clothes she would normally wear, because she simply didn't feel too much like dressing up that day. Besides, she was going to meet her squire, finally, and she didn't want to do the whole intimidating thing right off the bat by being stuffy and overly dressy. (disguise 18)

She heads straight for him once the party is starting, holding out a hand for a hand shake.]

Hey. I'm Bo.

[opprobrium]

[ Sebastian had figured he had little choice in the matter, given he was new and all. He had plenty of time to show his fashion choices were far from pinstripes. Still, the moment was at hand. When he was addressed he looked over at her arching a brow. He couldn't recall the name of the Knight he was squired too. He was expecting a big biker looking guy.

However he held the hand out despite the confused look/]

Sebastian, and isn't Bo a man's name?

That completely depends on how you spell it. I think.

[She shakes his hand firmly, nodding her head.]

I'm going to be the knight you're squired to, and I am very much not a man.

[opprobrium]

I don't know about that... though I'm not about to fight it.

[ He returned the shake, still a bit confused by her being a woman. At least she was a hot woman.]

So I see, to confuse you for a man means my eyes are severely messed up. [ A moment of silence given... his knight? ] Then it will be an honor to serve at your side. Am I allowed to call you Bo or, do you prefer Sir Bo?

Definitely just Bo. And I'm just here to give you a push in the right direction here and there. I'm not big on giving orders.

Well that's good, because I am not big on following orders. Keep that in mind and I think we'll get on fine Bo. You don't seem as lame as some of these others.

[ He figured no time like now to show he's a dick.]

And, can that said, do you mind showing me a shortcut outside? I've needed a smoke for almost an hour.

Most of them aren't so bad.

[But that meant some of them were. Don't worry, she'll warn you.]

Not a problem. After you're settled, I'll swing by and give you a real tour of the place, too.

[ He mentally tucked that bit of information away. Keeping in mind some are bad.]

I trust you will show me the ropes once the festivities are over then?

[ When he could be in his jeans and feel like himself, not a trained monkey. He twitched his fingers a bit, he wanted some nicotine but he could wait. He just didn't care too.]

I think we shall get on swimmingly Bo, a real tour and lacking the 'better then thou' air. Has gained you major points in your favor. I am curious to see how we will get along once the airs of the party are over.

[Thoster had a way of finding trouble. Usually that means getting into his own, but sometimes it can mean literally finding a source of trouble, and well... Sebastian fit the bill. The bard was friendly and liked to meet the new squires early to get to know what sort of brood they would be. He grabbed two glasses of strong ale and made his way to the lad.]

Quite the party, hm? [He held out a drink for Sebastian, a grin on his face.] How do you like it so far?

DFJKHDSJK YAY!

[ He had to play nice tonight, if only tonight. He had all the time to be a dick later. And being held out a drink that got an amused look for the new kid. He nodded to the question.]

I do not know to be honest. I haven't got a feel for the place yet. Maybe you could spare some knowledge for the neophyte.

[Thoster clinks his glass to the one Sebastian has taken.]

Well... Wouldn't be fair of me to keep it all to myself, now would it? [In his time with the Knights, Thoster had started to think of all the members as a crew that he's part of. And as a former captain of his own crew, he takes that very seriously.]

What is it you'd like to know?

[ Yes, good. Sebastian actually grinned a bit at the clinking of the glass and the others words. Thinking on it he took a drink before leaning back against the wall he had been leaning on before. [Gather Information 13 ]]

I'm curious about exactly what the Knights are doing here. What secrets this castle may hold. It may not mean anything, but I am curious of it. And also, what types of missions can we be expected to be given. I came in search of adventure after all.

[ He shifted the drink to his other hand and held out a hand. ] I'm Sebastian, and you would be?

Eager lad, aren't you? [Thoster chuckles lightly.] Well met, Sebastian. My friends call me Thoster. Bard of the seas, if you've ever heard the tale told. [He's not really as famous as he thinks he is. But a pirate captain with a bard's song in his heart isn't quite common.]

Afraid I can't speak much on the secrets of this place. If you find any, maybe you'll let me know. [He cracks another smile.] Missions come in all types. Been on one that sent me to an abandoned house to explore- found myself down a trap door, though. Another sent me to a ball where I used a bit of deception to track down a slaver. My most recent set me up as a personal guard to a very young girl who was being threatened by a mysterious stranger. If you're looking for adventure, you'll be sure to find it here. Indeed I am, ambition is a necessary evil if one wants to move ahead. I have no intention of being a squire for long, my eyes are set on knighthood.

I shall, if you do the same. [ And he would, Sebby was not above gossip. He nodded looking quite interested in these tale samples that were offered. ] Fascinating, I look forward to seeing what this place offers for me.

I don't sail much here, but back home? Aye, couldn't stand to see my ship docked for more than a few nights, if I could help it. You see amazing things out in open water, friend.

[Being the overly friendly guy he is, Thoster steps closer and rest a hand on Sebastian's shoulder.]

As for the rest- well... I learned the trade as I went, but the song has lived in my heart since I was younger than you.

I've rarely been on water, but I will take your word for it. If the ship is sail-able, I would love to give it a try once. I'll try anything once.

[ Shame, what was shame? Sebastian knows not of this shame.

His eyes shift to the hand but he doesn't pull it off him. Oddly, he likes this guy. He doesn't feel like being a bag of dicks to him, yet anyway. Looking back to the others face he nodded.]

Well, then you surely must be very good with such passion for it.

[ the resident librarian must have been in the middle of some pressing dewey decimal categorizing, because she didn't take the time to get glammed up, opting instead for what she was probably wearing earlier that day: a simple blouse, a peach skirt, and blue cardigan, with minimal makeup (disguise 7).

she seems to be looking for someone, rising up on her toes to peek across the crowd, disappointment on her features. when sebastian cuts in front of her, she blinks a bit, and then gives a quick, apologetic smile of minimal embarrassment at nearly looking right past him. ] Oh, hello. Sebastian, isn't it?

[ He would have moved right on past when he was spoke too, but she said his name and he was trying to at least act civil for the night. Arching a brow he turned and gave a bow of his head.]

That it is, might I inquire your name? After today so many know my name and I know basically no one elses.

[ she smirks a little at that as she admits: ] I remember how disorienting that could be. Especially because at the time I barely remembered my own name.

[ she extends a hand gently ] It's Belle. My name.

That sounds to be a bit of a pain.

[ He was usually pretty good at remembering things.

He reached out taking her hand to shake it in return. ]

It's a nice name, for an instrument.
