The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[ contrary to popular belief, jaina does know how to wear pretty things, even if she'd rather be in a flight suit all day. so she's rocking that little black dress from the french mistake right now (disguise 18), but definitely takes interest in alanna's obvious (to her) discomfort in girl wear. ]

Good thing it's pretty unlikely anyone's going to attack us during one of these. Not sure how anyone runs in these shoes. [ she indicates her own heels, obviously jealous of alanna's more sensible choice ]

I don't think we're meant to. [ the observation carries some snideness, though none of it's directed at jaina but more some conspiratorial accusation to share with her over crippling women's ability to run away. her nose crinkles in disapproval, but there's mingled amusement in there - after all, it is a knight's ball, no one's likely to attack them here. ] The same could be said for many of the clothes I've seen in this realm, though. You'd think it a more peaceful time than it is.

Everybody on every world always likes to cling to the illusion of peace even during wartime, whenever they can dress it up for a few hours.

A harsh truth, but a fair one all the same. Perhaps they find the lies more comforting.

I'm Alanna. [ she decisively straightens after a moment's silent contemplation on that, and holds out a hand. ]

Jaina Solo. [ she always finds herself saying it that way, and she's not sure why. maybe because the name was all she had, even if it's empty of connotations ] Have you been here long?

Few years, now. Long enough to get my bearings.
