The trial of Rafael Giovanni looms on the horizon, as summer gives way to fall, the chill in the air creating a definite atmosphere of foreboding as the date grows closer. It's not merely Rafael's freedom on the line after all - but also Des', thanks to the deal he struck with Iscariot. While Francesca and Val'drin work to uncover the secret of the mysterious hourglass artifact, lawyer Jaka Teken'Duis uses his ... unique legal powers to work towards a "Temporary Insanity" case for Rafael. The Knights, unhappy about the potential ramifications of such a plea, continue to seek any evidence they can to show Rafael was actually innocent, and place conspiracy charges back on Chad Becksworth and his ilk for what transpired. Not everything they learn, however, is what they were hoping to find...

Others wage more personal battles, as the coming autumn signals the encroaching winter, and Luthir and Violet's time draws shorter to find a way to stop her nightmares, lest they kill her. Elena plays a dangerous game, working to uncover more of her nature by training her doppelganger powers - with the enemy.

This log covers any work and non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in Chicago, immediately following the three mission logs and continuing for four months. This will be the Knight's last time in Chicago before the trial: after which they plan to return to the castle to fully Knight Violet and Dawn and decide where to head next.

Make your own threads, don't fuss about tag order, feel free to threadjack multiple people into one thread for hang-outs, ask me if you want a certain scene with an NPC, etc. forever whatever. There will be a few group scenes, which I'll alert everyone to on Plurk. They may not all be posted immediately, so keep an eye on this post for new threads as time goes by. [ not too long after the team implosion, myri will return from one of her jaunts to see kat outside the building, having a frenzied smoke. it's obvious that she's still upset over the blow-out days prior, but she hasn't brought it up since, casting death glares at anyone who so much as hints at it. ]

[Coming back from her walk, Myri feels slightly better, so when she sees Kat outside, she figures stopping can't hurt. She wants to make things right, wants to mend all broken tiny pieces that she still feels are falling all around them.

But she knows Kat has a temper, so instead of trying to initiate a conversation, Myri simply walks up and leans against the wall beside her former mentor.]

[ kat doesn't even glance over, obviously aware of who it is. she takes a long drag and then says, with bitter humor: ] Yo.

[Myri presses her lips together, trying to think of something to say that won't set the blonde off.]

Do you..? [She stops and sighs.] Kat, I wish you'd talk to me. Talk to somebody. [She's not angry, in fact, Myri looks a bit like she might cry for how much she just wants to help.]

About what? [ she purses her lips together ] Our big blowout? What, are we gonna all hug it out?

No. [Yes] I don't know. But all this silence isn't helping. It won't just go away.

It has to.

It doesn't work like that, Kat. This group- we... we care about each other. And that means that things can't just be brushed aside.

Who's brushing? We're moving past it, because harping just rips us apart.

If we're moving past it, then why are you still so angry?

I'm angry at the bad guys for doing this to us in the first place. For getting Jade killed, and everyone's lives ruined and making us all fight each other. And we all have to wait around here and try to fight them with stupid lawyers when all I want to do is punch Chad Becksworth right in the dick.

That's what they do. Evil destroys, or tries to. We're stronger than that. [She pauses, hesitating on the next thought but the corners of her mouth lift slightly.]

But... truthfully? All I want is to watch you punch him in the dick. [What have you people done to this innocent girl?]

Some day, God willing. Or gods, since we apparently have a ton of them on our dick, or whatever.

The trial can't last forever. [Myri you have no idea how the legal system works...] And after that, we'll be able to move forward. [You know... with the dick punching.]

I just hate that they fight via all this bureaucratic bullshit in the first place. We have to do things their way or we're the ones who get fucked.

But once we win, we'll be able to move more freely won't we?

I don't know. I used to think so.

And now?

I'm just worried about what they could be spending all this time cooking up for us when we get through this.

Perhaps we should also... cook.

I'm not so good with the evil planning. Do you have any bright ideas?
