after-party ♔ december

♬ Jeux d'eau - Ravel
WHO || Wynn, any and all Knights not currently on missions (if you are uncertain if your character would be at the castle for this, ask!)ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.
WHAT || Squiring Ceremony Afterparty
WHERE || Knights Headquarters, the Ballroom
WHEN || December 1st, 2013, 6:00PM
HOW || Prose OR Actionspam
The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).
The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.
Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.
Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

One day.
Maybe.]
Glad to see you got out of the weeds long enough to join us.

Her cheeks are a bit pink when Faye finds her, but that only adds to the whole alluring-English-rose impression that she tends to give off.] I wouldn't want to miss out on such wonderful company. [Try harder, there are no weeds in her garden and she's not so easily baited, ok.] Sometimes these parties seem like the only thing in the world that can bring all of us together in one room.
[She pauses to take a sip of her water-filled flute, peering at her companion over the glass' rim.]

What do you do out there, anyway?
/drops a.a. milne in here
If she's bothered to retain it.] Weeds are flowers too, you know, once you get to know them.
[Diana won't get to finish introducing herself to her garden until next spring, though. British weather isn't exactly conducive to outdoor hobbies - but neither is winter, unless you're an avid bobsledder. And she is not... that she's aware of.]

It's like a unicorn and a fairy godmother had a baby and you came out.
[Her face does not indicate that this is a good thing.]

I think I'd be much shorter if that were true. [With extra, awkwardly placed appendages.
There's a rather weighted pause, as though the teenager is debating what to say next.]
Some of the herbs I've grown might help ...with spells. Ours, specifically.
[Magic-wielding competition? What competition? Everybody wins, here.] I've been trying to decode some of the pages in my book, and it's been slow-going because I'm not a linguist and I'm sure most of the notations in it aren't Latin in the first place but from what I have translated: nature seems to tie into the way magic manifests.
I'm kind of surprised you don't spend much time outdoors.
This time on the right account.............
You mean you're surprised I'm not more like you. [Faye corrects her with a snide look.] I don't see the point in hugging trees and rolling around in the dirt like you do. That's not what I signed up for.

[To her, and everyone else in residence at the castle. Hard as she's tried to imagine it, the image of Faye as one of Nessa's diligent pupils doesn't ever materialize in her mind. To say nothing of the idea that Faye could ever perform a task selflessly, without some kind of ambition.
Her lips press together, thoughtfully.] Making mudpies and getting your hands dirty isn't the only way to connect, Faye. Maybe earth just isn't the element you have an aptitude for. There are at least four others.

[She likes to set shit on fire. If you have not picked up on this, she will give you another demonstration.]

You could amplify it, then. [She shrugs, as though this is obvious.] If you wanted.
no subject
[No, that's... not it at all but that's her idea of why she's here. Sort of. At least outwardly.]
