Unlike the grandiose nature of the squiring ceremony each Knight undergoes upon their initial entrance into the Knighthood, the graduation to Full Knight status takes place in a much more intimate affair, between the Knight, their mentor, invited friends, and the members of the sect to which they will be inducted. There's no pompous music, no stolid rank and file, no elaborate march.

Faye's invitees are given seats of honor at the front of the ranks of the Dragon's Fire members  and Nessa, Wynn, and Hasmed wait up at the front of the room for Faye to approach them, but the attitude of the ceremony is much more relaxed, full of smiles and light conversation on all sides from the other sect members.

Wynn finally gets things rolling, by saying in his loud listen-to-me voice: "Approach and kneel, Sir Faye Chamberlain."

So I was thinking, maybe we cou- AHH! [Faye was in the middle of talking to some random member of the Dragon's Fire that we will handwave existing or something. Next thing she knows, she's all but tackled by Andie's hug. Once she figures out what's going on, she just starts laughing.]

[The hug doesn't last long. Andie has a pretty high hug tolerance, but she also has superspeed so a few seconds is a long enough hug.] I'm so happy for you! You totally did it!

Well, yeah. You didn't doubt me, did you? [She's still laughing and catching her breath from being caught off guard.]

Course not! I mean sometimes you come across as a little... well... [What's a nice way to say terrifying as all hell...] Enthusiastic? But you'll be a super great knight! I mean, you already are!

Me, enthusiastic? Look who's talking.

Oh, I'm really laid back if you come at it from my speed.

Too bad no one else here is at your speed.

Believe me, I've noticed. It's why I'm always moving so slow myself, you know?

I wouldn't call this slow, really. You're practically bounding off the walls half the time.

[She smirks, conspiratorially.]

I was being nice. [Or as nice as Faye can be.]

So did you figure out what to do with that guy? Foster or whatever.

[She almost tried.]

[She shakes her head, glancing down. This is after her mission, so it's... more complicated now.]

I don't know. I think we might just be too different. On that mission...

[She looks down, frowning. He'd wanted to take a life. Not exactly an innocent life, but still. She doesn't know if she can be okay with that.]

What? That you're young and hot and he looks like still barely knows how showers work?

[Faye is not impressed by the pirate]

[Andie is easily distracted and also flattered. She smirks at Faye.]

Oh come on- you know it's true.

Well... yeah, I know it. But you're like, really hot. So it's cool hearing it.

[Can't argue there. She knows she's bangin.]

Well, consider me the authority then. You're hot. I'm home. But that guy? You can do way better.

Yeah. [Andie doesn't look all that happy about it, but she's not really disagreeing. She could do way better. But it's hard to remember that when his smile and the look in his eyes when he calls her beautiful still comes to mind so easily.]

Oh my god cheer up. We're here to celebrate me getting promoted. This is not the time to sulk about some weird pirate asshole.

Sorry, Faye. [She gives a bit of a smile and vanishes for a moment, reappearing with cake. Her mouth is also covered in frosting and crumbs. She may have gotten hungry on the way over and eaten her slice.]

You're such a mess. [She says with moderate fondness as she takes the plate so that she can pick at the cake with her fork.]

I'm glad you came, though. You need more shit like this to get your mind off of that guy.

Yeah, I'm glad he's not at this one. He keeps being at the parties I go to and it's awkward.

[A beat.]

Sorry, this isn't exactly not talking about him. Let's talk about you! All knight-y and cool!

Any idea how soon they give out squires? [It's hard to tell if she wants it to be sooner or later. She hasn't really decided how she feels about that, herself. Being responsible for another person could be the worst.]

I dunno. Depends on the person I guess. Some people go years and years or never get 'em, some people get 'em pretty quickly. [She tilts her head at Faye.] If you want one, you could try asking Wynn. He could bump you up in the line.
