Most mission briefs include at least a day's prior notice before their scheduled time. The message that goes out to Alanna, Rose, Bo, and Kate, however, tells them to meet right away.

Just as before, accessing the secret room where the Round Table is housed requires using the Knight's keycard to open the glass case beside the mural of the War in Heaven, located across from the ballroom entrance. Using the fire extinguisher as a lever to activate the "door" mechanism reveals the long torch-lit hall plastered in artwork depicting the Knight's history. The tenants of the Knighthood hang large and foreboding over the doors at the end of the hall, which stand open to reveal the brightly lit Round Table, and the majestic crystalline dragon statue presiding over it.

Come in, find a seat, meet your teammates if you haven't already. No one is here when the first of you arrives.

[If she wasn't already nervous about her first mission (the anxious, almost excited kind of nerves, not the "I can't do this" kind), the empty room she walked into would have set her on edge. She pauses in the doorway, glancing back to make sure she's in the right place, then down at her watch, before shrugging and finding a seat.

[ it's alanna's idea of a greeting. given that she's all five feet of harmless, cheerful redhead, it isn't particularly intimidating to skip the hello. she grins. ]

[And with that, she'll stick out a hand for the customary handshake greeting.]

Alanna. [ she shakes kate's hand vigorously, then grabs one of the chairs and drops casually into it, glancing over at bo. ] What about you?

[She gives the other woman a casual wave.]

It's Bo. I've been around for awhile, but we must not have run into each other yet.

[The seeming urgency of the message still sees Rose appear last with a mouth overstuffed with food, as if it were entirely possible that somebody had forced two thirds of a donut in there rather than throw it in the bin. Hey - why waste good pastry?!

With cheeks looking like they were about to burst, the somehow not-choking Dhampir (Dex 21) appears.]

Hnnnghhh - hng hnnnng hng... [Pointing at her mouth, she shrugs, waves, and slides into an open seat.]

[ wynn enters behind rose, and the amusement in his eyes seems to indicate that he heard some of her amazing entrance speech there. either way, he makes his way around the table to stand in front of the big gold doors, and launches right into things. ]

As you may or may not be aware, there have been a string of mysterious fires through the city of Rome in the past few weeks. The first three appeared to be textbook cases of arson, though they were exceptionally well executed. But since then, ten more fires have occurred, and these cases have been stranger. No evidence of arson has been found at any of these sites, and Simone Billox's Arson Investigation Unit has identified the same unusual pattern of start points in each instance.

She says the evidence doesn't fit anything she's seen before, and she's asked for a team of Knights to be dispatched to see if the influence is Shadow-related. She's out at the latest site now: a fire gutted a grocery store just now. You'll go over the site with her and see what you can find out.

[The vacant look in Rose's eyes (Knowledge 5) suggests that this is the first she's heard about any fires, the Dhampir still trying not to choke as she manages - with some difficulty - to swallow down all of her food.]

Unusual like- [Clearing her throat.] Maybe some kind of ritual, or are we talking straight up weird?

Something about the movement of the fire itself - the way it spread.

[Innnnnnteresting. This sounds like a good case to start with, as far as Kate is concerned.]

She can fill us in on the evidence she's found so far when we get there?
