Everybody loves a media circus and the trial of Rafael Giovanni is no exception. If he was famous before, in the days following the shooting, now he's all people are talking about, and all the tabloids want to focus on. The complications presented at some of the early hearings by Jaka, regarding the identity of the Black Scourge and Rafael's alleged reaction have only made the story more appealing to the millions watching.

They've also caused the trial to drag out for months as facts are checked, evidence is poured over, and the jury becomes only more split on the issue. In the meantime, the holidays fly by, and one of the most terrible winters in years blankets Chicago in blizzards.

This log covers any work and non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in Chicago, immediately following the last log and continuing for the next couple months. This will be the Knight's last time in Chicago before the trial: after which they plan to return to the castle to fully Knight Violet and Elena and decide where to head next.

[One morning, there's a piece of paper laying neatly on the kitchen table.]

To my family,

I'm sorry. I feel like I should start with that before I go any further. I've gone back to the castle. After everything that we've all been through, I wish that it didn't need to be like this. I know I should have said something, but I didn't think that I would be able to face you all. I have to do this for myself, to try to learn to be stronger.

Take care of each other. I'm counting on you to keep one another in one piece in my absence.

[finnick notices the note fairly quickly (spot 16), and after reading it all he can do is wander into the living room and lie there, inconsolable. he blames himself, although on some level he realizes that he's not the sole reason she'd been so unhappy. but really. they break up, she leaves? where is the finger of blame going to point? here's hoping no one decides to throw him into a table ... ]

[in what is practically an eeyore voice:] Myri went back to the castle. [the motions towards the note on the kitchen table.]

[Spike comes across the note and nearly drops his blood. But with amazing vampire reflexes, he catches it before it can spill (reflex 28). He puts it down on the table and grabs the note, crumpling it in his hand. Then he heads towards Buffy's room. He doesn't care if she's asleep or awake or in the midst of finally shagging Rafael. She needs to see this.]

BUFFY!!

[He pauses to glare at Finnick as he passes.]

Good show, wanker.

[Yeah, he's considering the table throwing option. But right now, more important things.]

[ he gets a violet instead, head poking out her door sleepily. ] Dude, why the yelling?

[ kat rushes after spike angrily ] Hey! Let the rest of us see!

Myri's gone! [He shoves the wrinkled paper at Kat, whirling back towards them.] Some bollocks about needing to be stronger. We need to stop her!

[quietly from the living room, like he doesn't give a fuck if spike actually hears him or not:] You would have strong armed her into staying and made her feel worse than she already did. [wis 15 for .... knowing his ex-gf i guess???]

[ oh. ] She's been thinking about this for months. [ but she hears finnick (listen 22) and pads into the living room to curl up with him because he probably needs a hug. ]

[Spike's freaky vampire ears hear all (listen 29). Spike stalks towards him.]

Our unhappiness was killing her, Kat. Not everyone is built to be ride or die for this fucktastrophe. She'll come back when she's ready. [ weakest reasonings ever, but if vi trusts anyone she trusts myri so she's 5000% behind the woman. (diplomacy 18) even if she hates it a lot because she misses her sister. ] She's learning to be stronger, so we have to do the same thing.

[The sound of all the commotion has Elena coming out of her room. She listens to them talk for a while about it, but she's motionless, shocked. When she finally speaks, her voice sounds...weak.]

[ w/e kat got a nat 20 will save vs any attempts at diplomacy. this happens hilariously often. the dice know. ] We had like two days before the trial's over! She couldn't wait until we actually finished here? We should be finishing this stuff together!
