Everybody loves a media circus and the trial of Rafael Giovanni is no exception. If he was famous before, in the days following the shooting, now he's all people are talking about, and all the tabloids want to focus on. The complications presented at some of the early hearings by Jaka, regarding the identity of the Black Scourge and Rafael's alleged reaction have only made the story more appealing to the millions watching.

They've also caused the trial to drag out for months as facts are checked, evidence is poured over, and the jury becomes only more split on the issue. In the meantime, the holidays fly by, and one of the most terrible winters in years blankets Chicago in blizzards.

This log covers any work and non-work related shenanigans the Knights have while staying in Chicago, immediately following the last log and continuing for the next couple months. This will be the Knight's last time in Chicago before the trial: after which they plan to return to the castle to fully Knight Violet and Elena and decide where to head next.

vi's fake squiring party | FOR EVERYONE

[ kat rounds up everyone who's everyone for what is obviously a very official and serious time.

when vi makes her way over, kat is busy coaching "wynn" aka elena over here. ] No, no, he's way taller than that. Think 'looming'.

Seriously? Taller? I mean, it's been a long time but...

[But she'll try taller. Going off of memory is hard when you haven't seen someone in a long time. So she tries to fix things a bit based on Kat's descriptions (Disguise...38)]

[ vi manages to keep a straight face for all of five seconds before she dissolves into laughter. ] Oh my lord. Oh god, you did it. you actually. [ and she is hugging "wynn" now and very dramatically exclaiming, dramatically: ] I can't believe you came all the way over from London!!

[ francesca's wearing her normal attire, but she still got a disguise check of 41 (or 51 if you're a dude), which is probably entirely due to those leather pants. she's also endlessly amused by elena impersonating wynn, and this whole charade, in general, grinning widely as she observes elena's shape-shifting, drink in hand. ]

Impeccable, really. I'm certainly impressed.

[Elena tries to hug Vi back like she thinks Wynn would, not too stiffly but not to casually either. Has anyone actually hugged Wynn?]

It isn't that long of a flight.

Well, I can't say as if I've ever seen anyone else shape-shift into Wynn, but you do look just like him. [ she sounds a bit amazed, honestly, pausing to take a sip ] Just make sure to stand up straight.

[Myri probably let Vi braid her hair as part of her promotion day present since she loves it so much. But mostly she's just standing off to the side, smiling more genuinely than she has in some time. For as awkward as things have been lately, this means more to her than all that.

Better yet to have Elena involved and just prove to Myri again that her own squire deserves promotion more than she can believe. Elena is so talented, brave, true to her cause.

These ceremonies give her a lot of feelings. Even when they're fake.

[ she pads over from her awesome hug and loops her arm around myri's waist. ] Do you think anyone has ever been knighted in bunny slippers before? [ because yes, violet is wearing her pajamas for this. but she did brush her teeth and put lip gloss on so that is pm all anyone can ask of her. ]

I bet not, and it's that kind of left-wing thinking that keeps me outta that joint. [Des is actually sitting on the hotel's bar, eating what was probably cheerios, but seems to have also gained half a complimentary fruit basket on top of it, so it's like milky fruit salad with oats.]

Somehow I doubt it's the footwear that's been your main concern. [Myri casts a small smile in Des' direction, shaking her head at him. Her focus return to Vi quickly.]

Your slippers are lovely. And so are you. [She's not dressed up that much anyway, wearing something like this but with blonde hair obvs.]

[In response to Francesca's comment, Elena does just that, standing up a little straighter and feeling...that much taller.]

I'd be in slippers too if that wouldn't be...totally ridiculous.

[ francesca catches des's look and is inwardly amused with the play, although to the group she's stone-faced and quite convincing (bluff 61) as she assists in carrying on the charade ] Sir, we don't wish to take up too much of your time, we know you have a schedule to keep. Should we begin the ceremony?

Yes! Let's do the thing. [ who knows if vi is helping with the bluff because this is pretty much how she talks to the real wynn, too, so there is literally no difference. ] Knight me, o' knighter!

[finnick comes out of his daily drunken stupor just in time to make it to this ~ceremony~ in the living room and ... like gar, is totally fooled. he is now in full WERWATEY????? mode, mouth gaping open like a fool child.]

[Myri glances just at the right/wrong moment to see Finnick enter. In different circumstances, she would have pulled him aside and filled him in on the joke. But things aren't so simple. It's really taking everything she's got to pull her gaze back to Vi and pretend like she doesn't mind being this close to him (bluff nat 20 wow).]

[ gar's sense motive is a whole 12. so she is COMPLETELY on board with... this being wynn. ] A... a personal visit?

[Elena glances over at Kat with an expression that she hopes looks both expectant and dignified.]

[Sadly, Myri's moral compass is a party pooper. She realizes what everyone is doing and gives them an exasperated smile.]
