Peter Pan can say with certainty that he's never been in a place like this before. It's a far cry from the wilds of Neverland, and even from New York City, with its buildings that tower above everything else. That his new home is a castle might be overwhelming to some, but to Pan, he sees it as an opportunity: for exploration, for adventure.  As he wanders through the insides of the castle, he comes to realize that he will now be living in a level of comfort that is completely alien to him.  Even though he's lived in this world for several months-- maybe close to half a year now-- he's still used to roughing it as he had in Neverland.  Actually, if he's being honest, surviving in this world presented a greater challenge than in Neverland, where he was king and everything he said goes.  In the City, he'd barely been scraping by.  There may have been a roof over his head, but that was in an apartment split between too many boys, dirty and cramped, furnished with little more than an old mattress and a lumpy couch that came with the place.  To call his former home "run-down" was putting it gently.

This, though, is like going from famine to feast overnight.  A private room, a grand dining hall, a kitchen with actual counter space (something he never thought he'd care about, until he tried cooking for himself in New York), an impressive library, entertainment rooms... He's keen to find the armory, too, because, well.  Weapons are fun.  But even if he doesn't find it just yet, he's keeping himself busy enough looking through the rest of the castle.

A small creature tails after him as he explores his surroundings. Sometimes, even, the weasel can be found perched on his shoulder like a tiny parrot, or nestled comfortably in the crook of his arm.  Pan's not really one to keep pets-- not unless you counted Wendy-- but this weasel is a very special weasel, okay.  The familiar is still new to Pan, and he's still getting accustomed to its constant presence, but he has to admit, the creature's quite useful.  It took all of his willpower, but he went against using "Felix" for its name, deciding instead to call it "Slightly."  So, say hello to Slightly the weasel.

As for Pan himself, he was so eager to get around and explore the castle that he didn't bother changing out of the clothes he arrived in.  As such, he doesn't much look the part of Peter Pan right now.  Instead, he's dressed like a perfectly average boy (as he learned pretty early into his time in this world that running around in a forest-inspired outfit would attract attention that wasn't always the most positive), in a pair of dark jeans, a blue button-up shirt, and a slightly raggedy black coat, with a scarf hanging around his shoulders. He doesn't like dressing this way, truth be told-- he much prefers the clothes he's been wearing for as long as he can remember-- but for now, it's what he's got.  It pays to look ordinary and blend in, sometimes.

Yep, he's just an ordinary boy with a magical weasel, walking around a positively extraordinary castle.

When actually present in the castle, David can be pretty set in his routine. Workout and training in the morning, breakfast, catching up on current events, possibly wandering the grounds a bit before lunch. Even with the time at sea (which had been much needed, as he'd missed it), he still falls back into the routine easily, letting the familiarity of it center him again.

By the time he runs into Pan (or, more accurately, Pan runs into him as David is currently sitting), he is in the middle of digging through news reports. He's specifically looking for stuff related to the Andres Islands but learning more about the world he now occupies in general wouldn't hurt him. There's still so much he needs to catch up on, but he's acclimating, bit by bit.

He looks up at the sound of footsteps, and while initially the frown is at that kid looks kind of young, it eventually devolves to ...

"Is that a weasel?"

Well, David is just surprised by the fact that it's a weasel. Not that he knows anything about how magical folk find their familiars because he just ... tends to avoid magic as a rule, but that also means that he's prone to assuming things based on their familiars.

Do you understand what a weasel says about you, Pan? Do you?

"Just not what I would have kept for a pet," he replies idly. He doesn't seem phased by the attitude. He's used to it - though he can't exactly remember why. It's annoying, but it's a fact of life at this point. "I hear they bite."

... Okay, those are at least ... interesting things. David probably wouldn't classify "clever" and "good" in the same sentence, but he mostly is there to hit things, so.

"Nope." And there isn't. "It's just not what I would normally expect for a pet. Most kids would go for a puppy." And let's face it, Pan looks a lot like a kid.

David isn't very good at seeing beneath the surface of things, but he's not particularly surprised when the kid says he's something more. What, exactly, he's not quite sure, but the animal should be a hint.

"My mistake."
