Unlike the grandiose nature of the squiring ceremony each Knight undergoes upon their initial entrance into the Knighthood, the graduation to Full Knight status takes place in a much more intimate affair, between the Knight, their mentor, invited friends, and the members of the sect to which they will be inducted. There's no pompous music, no stolid rank and file, no elaborate march.

Davi'ds invitees are given seats of honor at the front of the ranks of the Dragon's Hide members - the largest sect in the castle, with the most representatives here, and Jack, Wynn, and Lan wait up at the front of the room for David to approach them, but the attitude of the ceremony is much more relaxed, full of smiles and light conversation on all sides.

Wynn finally gets things rolling, by saying in his loud listen-to-me voice: "Approach and kneel, Sir David Levin"

[David does as he's told, straight and stoic as ever. He makes his way over and drops to one knee, waiting for the ceremony to start. Some part of him remembers doing this before, but he can't remember for who or why.]

Sir David Levin. You have demonstrated a commitment to the ideals of this organization that has been deemed sufficient to induct you into our order as a full Knight of the Silver Dragon. We ask at this time that you answer this question honestly:

Do you wish to accept this position?

[generaldavideus]

[He nods briefly before speaking.]

I do.

[wynn]

Do you swear to respect all weaknesses, and constitute yourself the Defender of them?

[generaldavideus]

I do.

[wynn]

Do you swear to never recoil before thy enemy?

[generaldavideus]

I do.

[wynn]

Do you swear to make war against injustice, without cessation and without mercy?

[generaldavideus]

I do.

[wynn]

Do you swear never to lie, and to remain faithful to your pledged word?

Do you swear to be generous, and to listen to and respect all?

Do you swear to be everywhere and always the champion of the right and the good against injustice and evil?

Sir Ironsides. [ He speaks to the dwarf without turning to look at him. ] Do you accept Sir Levin as a member of the Dragon's Hide?

[ironsides]

[ The dwarf waddles forward, standing there to scrutinize David from the step. ]

Do you swear to stand as the sword and shield to protect this Knighthood from harm?

[generaldavideus]

[He nods in agreement.]

I do.

[ironsides]

Then by the power of my office, I grant thee the title of Full Knight of the Dragon's Hide! [ He moves to pat the back of David's shoulder ] Rise and take your place up here, lad.

[generaldavideus]

[David smiles, genuinely, as he gets to his feet and nods to the rest of the room. This is good. This is what he's worked for.]

[David changes out of his armor into a suit shortly after the ceremony, mostly because as much as he doesn't like them, they're easier to mingle in than, well, armor. He's still as antisocial as ever because what is networking, but he's here and he seems pleased to be here if nothing else.

These are his people. More or less. So he's a little more at ease than he would be after your usual after party.

A little less flashy than a Fire party, but I guess I'd give it a 6 out of 10.

[He smiles a bit as he turns to face her before nodding.]

I'm surprised it isn't rowdier, to be honest.

[Clearly the members of the Hide have never been to a Viking feast.]

[cigam]

I could help start the food fight, if you want.

[generaldavideus]

[He laughs a bit.]

I was thinking more drinking songs and ruckus laughter.

[cigam]

[ she grins ] Then I'll make certain to spike the refreshments with my own special blend.

[generaldavideus]

[His eyebrows climb a bit at that.]

How special is special?

[cigam]

Let's just say it'll make fey wine look like water.

[generaldavideus]

[he takes a deep breath, before glancing around.]

Not sure that would be a good idea either.

[cigam]

It's a party, David. What are you afraid of?

[generaldavideus]

[He pauses for a moment. It's because he doesn't like that loss of control, even when he's in a safe place. He's lost it too many times in the past.]

I'm not sure.

[fixyourproblem]

Hey, bro! [Yes, he says 'bro'. But that 'bro' comes out a little bit awkward, sounding very unnatural from him.] Congratulation! You looked really cool wearing armor and making a pledge like that. Guess you are really fitted to be a Knight.

[generaldavideus]

[David's eyebrows raise a bit at "bro." Really? Bro? But he doesn't comment.]

Thank you. I'm just glad I finally made it.

[fixyourproblem]

[Brantley chuckles a bit, seeing his expression. Maybe he should use that bro more often.]

I definitely think it's certainly something worth celebrating. Why don't we go out to town after this? I know a place that you probably would enjoy.

[generaldavideus]

[His eyebrows raise at the phrase "out on the town." And a place he would enjoy.]

Really?

[fixyourproblem]

Yeah, a bath house. [No, not that kind of bath house, just a normal one.] We and the rest of the party have a relaxing bath and chat in an open bath. Sounds good, right?

[generaldavideus]

[There's a pause as he shrugs.]

I haven't been in a bath house since I was last at Mount Olympus.

[Which is ... not in this universe.]

[fixyourproblem]

[Yeah, he is just gonna assume David was refering to the real non-mythological Mount Olympus.]

I didn't know there's a bath house on Mount Olympus.

[generaldavideus]

[There's a beat.]

Not this one. The one where I'm from.

[fixyourproblem]

The one where the gods live? Don't tell me you're the son of Zeus. [He chuckles a bit. He knows that David came from beyond the veil where anything is possible, but it still seems unlikely that a normal looking man like David is one of the gods.]

[generaldavideus]

[David rolls his eyes, then shakes his head.]

No. I just had to deal with them a lot. Gods aren't all they're cracked up to be.

[fixyourproblem]

[Brantley chuckles, amused at the comment. Shadow world, a place where vikings take baths with gods.]

Well, lucky for you, unlike the Olympus, I don't think gods frequent the place. How about it? Interested in a normal bath where you don't have to deal with gods?

[generaldavideus]

[He considers for a moment before nodding.]

Sure. Sounds good.

[fixyourproblem]

[Brantley lightens up more than before. One of the things he enjoys the most is having relaxing baths with friends.]
