Unlike the grandiose nature of the squiring ceremony each Knight undergoes upon their initial entrance into the Knighthood, the graduation to Full Knight status takes place in a much more intimate affair, between the Knight, their mentor, invited friends, and the members of the sect to which they will be inducted. There's no pompous music, no stolid rank and file, no elaborate march.
Myri, Wynn, and Koraith wait up at the front of the room for Elena to approach them, but the attitude of the ceremony is much more relaxed, full of smiles and light conversation on all sides. Of course, when Wynn speaks, people still hush. It's just how he rolls.
"Sir Elena Gilbert, please kneel."

kyp turns to stare at elena for a long moment, clearly aware that he's be compelled to being honest, but finding it impossible to say nothing to that.
finally he speaks, and the truth comes pouring out. ]
Because it's what I am, Elena. It's what I live for.
I've never known a greater challenge, a more immersive chance to step into someone's life - lives - and feel the connections they share. It's unlimited, you know - that's what makes us better than they are. They can know one family, one set of loved ones, one life. We can know the love of a hundred sisters, brothers, fathers, mother, lovers, and none of it lessened in any way by the existence of the others. So many people look to escape their lives, to consider themselves someone else for a moment, but they can't ever know how truly liberating it is. How much more real.
[ there's a beat, his eyes skating to wynn who he's clearly terrified of but he's on a roll now and the truth keeps coming ] And you, Elena. I couldn't stay away from you.

[ kyp's twisted emotional manipulation moves buffy from her spot. with vi's entangle dispelled, she steps forward and grabs him by the arm, roughly shoving him to turn away from her (and, coincidentally, towards the door). she is wynn's muscle. ]
You're a creep. The only thing you have in common with Elena is the air you're breathing, and even that won't be true for much longer.
[ she says that with complete certainty, not turning around to assess elena's reaction to that declaration. ]

[Spike trots over and grabs Kyp's other arm. Then starts pulling the coat off. He just had to steal that along with everything else.]
I'd tell you to stay the hell away from her, but you won't have a choice. Rot in hell.
[He shrugs the coat on. With it settled on his shoulders, he feels that much more like himself.]

[Archer has been standing this whole time dumbstruck, just trying to process all the implications of all of these words being exchanged, trying to sort out when exactly his fellow knights were abducted, and silently berating himself - a HUMINT (Human Intelligence) specialist for his inability to notice. He also abysmally fails both saves against the Zone of Truth, and the Wynntimidation, which only serves to increase the scathing-ness of his present self-loathing - but Kyp's little speech snaps him out of it.]

[Archer's impulse is to reach for his pistol (Which just so happens to have some Silver Bullets intended for Spike, that might unintentionally be hilariously effective against Dopplegangers - BUT the Wynntimidation is too strong, so he'll have to use his words. Thanks, Elena for the Foreshadowing.]
Look, jackass, I don't have the time - nor the crayons - to effectively explain this on a level your messed up little brain will comprehend - BUT Elena is exactly NOTHING like you. You creep around in other people's skin to get off on living their life? Why, daddy use the belt a bit too much? Well Boo-Fucking-Hoo. Elena's life is great; She's a knight, has good friends, she's got great tits, she has a superpower - which is just freakin amazing, oh and she's the most skilled demolitions expert I've ever met.
Meanwhile, you are a pathetic little sack of shit, with no friends, and I'm sure everyone talks about you behind your back. I'm not exactly sure what your disorder is - but I know it's difficult to pronounce. I wish I could tell you how little I think of you. I wish that would make an impact. I wish that it would make a difference. I wish that, but it won't. That's because you think even less of yourself than I do without even realizing it. You're nothing. Not just to me. To you.
[After regurgitating a greatest hits of things Archer has wanted to say to his mother, he spits on Kyp, and moves to stand over near Elena.]

And in a way, she gets it.
She wants to be loved, just like anyone else. Maybe that's Kyp's problem. He wants to feel that, but without a family, he has to get it from somewhere else. And because of what they are, stealing another person's relationship is...easier than making them yourselves.
It's also wrong.]
It's not real. It's a lie.
[They're someone else's family. Someone else's life.
And then they're all standing up for her, and Archer gives a speech that she wasn't even sure he was capable of, and not even the slight vulgarity in it can take away from anything.
When he comes over to her, she moves to hug him. She doesn't deserve it, doesn't deserve anything from him anymore, because she doubted a lot of things, made a lot of mistakes.
She only spares one last glance over at Kyp, and it's full of bitterness and regret and unfinished business.]

And you need to know: I meant everything I said before.
It wasn't some kind of line. [ the use of the exact words from last night, albeit in his own voice and cadence, makes it clear just what he's talking about. the conversation in her bedroom, everything he'd said, had come from him, and wasn't another part of the game. his eyes burn into hers as if he can drill the importance of that truth home to her, and then buffy's shuffling him forward again, and he lets her drag him. ]

[ she twists his arm behind him and shoves him out the door of the ballroom. somehow, she has the feeling she can trust archer to run the damage control on whatever this sick freak was trying to get into elena's head with. he'd done a pretty damn good job already.
