The air that hangs over Vi's Knighting Ceremony is a study of contrasts: it's impossible to forget the events of the week before, or the fact that Thomas is still held captive, or even the reality of Vi's impending final bout with the Nightmare god haunting her dreams.  At the same time, the atmosphere is lightened by the nuptials intended to follow the ceremony.  It's that whole complicated Walk to Remember vibe, ok.

Vi's invitees are given seats of honor at the front of the ranks of the Dragon's Light members - a comparatively small sect, and Kat, Wynn, and the incredibly stoic Sir Solace, section head of the Light, wait up at the front of the room for Vi to approach them, but the attitude of the ceremony is much more relaxed, full of smiles and light conversation on all sides. Of course, when Wynn speaks, people still hush. It's just how he rolls.

"Approach and kneel, Sir Fiore."

[ while she looks hella comfortable in her armor, if not generally uncomfortable, she only manages to make it like ten feet up the aisle before she's tripped and fallen on her face with a yelp. she doesn't jump right to her feet like she did at her squiring, mostly because she is too busy just laying there. a+ knight you've got here, wynn. ]

Okay, someone help me up so I can finish this walk of shame.

[ luthir is at her side in an instant, helping her up by the elbow and giving her an encouraging, warm look. c'mon boo, he'll walk down with you.]

[ aww, if she hadn't proposed six times already she would do it again. ] Thanks. [ la de da de da walking. when she gets to the end she makes to shoo him off, but then abruptly grabs him and kisses him. and then shoos him off. she's got srs knighting shit to do, more kisses later, go away.

as she kneels, she looks up at wynn and shrugs. ] Carpe diem, boss.

[wynn]

Sir Fiore. [ his lips might be twitching up in a tiny smile. ] You have demonstrated a commitment to the ideals of this organization that has been deemed sufficient to induct you into our order as a full Knight of the Silver Dragon. We ask at this time that you answer this question honestly:

Do you wish to accept this position?

[graveflowers]

Yes, sir.

[wynn]

Do you swear to respect all weaknesses, and constitute yourself the Defender of them?

[graveflowers]

Yes. [ sage nod. especially bunnies. she will defend all the bunnies. ]

[wynn]

Do you swear to make war against injustice, without cessation and without mercy?

[graveflowers]

[ she hesitates briefly because mercy is kind of a thing that is good. but she gets the drift and nods again. ] Yep. Yes, I mean yes.

[wynn]

Do you swear never to lie, and to remain faithful to your pledged word?

[graveflowers]

Yes.

[wynn]

Do you swear to be generous, and to listen to and respect all?

[graveflowers]

Duh. [ omg vi you cannot "duh" wynn. ] Yes.

[wynn]

[ he returns that quip with a serious gaze of his own. this part is important vi ]

Do you swear to be everywhere and always the champion of the right and the good against injustice and evil?

[graveflowers]

[ she manages to keep in any extraneous words. ] Yes, I swear.

[ there's the smallest hint of what looks like approval in his eyes as he moves forward. ] Sir Solace. [ He speaks to the stoic man at his side without turning to look at him. ] Do you accept Sir Fiore as a member of the Dragon's Light?

[sirsolace]

[ The stately balding man seems to glide forward beneath his white robes, standing there to scrutinize Vi from the step with eyes that appear to be weighing the full measure of what he sees, though they give no hint as to their final judgment. ]

Do you swear to stand as the healing light of the heavens to protect this Knighthood from harm?

[graveflowers]

[ does she swear to what now? hold on while she replays that and translates to twentysomething. ]

...yes. Yes, totally the harm police.

[sirsolace]

[ gurrrl ] Then by the power of my office, I grant thee the title of Full Knight of the Dragon's Light. [ He gestures solemnly with one hand to the place at his side ] Rise and join me.

[graveflowers]

Yay! [ she hops to her feet, giving kat a smile. look, ma, i did it! sorry solace. just.... so much sorry. oh, right she is supposed to be joining him, over there. she does that. ] Thanks, sir.

[sirsolace]

[ solace simply stares straight ahead as the crowd applauds, not deigning to give her so much as another glance as she takes her place beside him. kat, however, gives her a wink. ]

[graveflowers]

[ you... will probably not learn to love her. but tolerance is big nowadays. after an impromptu curtsy which is some how disgustingly graceful and utterly at odds with her faceplant, she looks over at wynn. ITS HER TURN FOR A SERIOUS QUESTION. ] Okay. Can I go get married now?

[wynn]

I wouldn't dare to tell you otherwise.

[ with only the briefest smile, she races off to rid herself of her armor. i hope you all enjoyed that twenty second knighting. ]
