The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[ jaina's gotten the hang of this dressing up fancy thing, ok. it's still never going to feel like second nature to her. but since dear old dad is hanging around somewhere, she doesn't exactly feel like accidentally bumping into him, so excuse her if she hides out by flopping in a chair at your corner table as well. hi. ]

[ WHERE IS LEMON WHEN ABIGAIL NEEDS HIM. people she doesn't know are hard. she nibbles on a piece of celery for a minute before she glances over at the other girl, blue eyes studying her carefully before she finally speaks. ] Hi.

[ jaina peels her eyes off the dance floor, where she's watching han accost leia over there, and seems to just realize that she has company ] Oh, hey. ... Hope it's ok that I stole this seat.

Yeah, it's okay. Are you... hiding from someone? [ wis 12, it's hilarious that abigail doesn't want to get involved if that is the case, but equally doesn't want this stranger to wind up like abigail did. ]

No? ... Sort of. It's complicated.

Oh... okay. [ she just nods and looks back at her food. ]

[ a moment passes. and then she adds, with an awkward shift: ] It's... my dad.


Apparently.

You're hiding from your father? [ her eyes widen some and she looks concerned. rationally, she knows it's not the same, it can't be the same, this woman's dad can't be like hers. but irrationally, her hands start to tremble and she tucks them into her lap. ]

That's what I've heard. [ she should probably meet people and maybe once she's less skittish it will be easier, but rn? haha no. ]

Might just make people more curious about you and willing to stick their nose in your business if you turn yourself into a mystery, though.

A mystery they won't be able to solve. No one here knows anything about me, what are they going to find out? [ she's actually a little curious about that -- what would they be able to find out if they didn't outright ask her? ]

Probably depends on how much you have to find out about. Some people come here without a past at all.

You could have just said "some people don't remember much" but you said not at all. [ she shrugs and points to will. ] That's my... That's Will, he's like my dad. Except he doesn't remember everything I remember. I understand complicated dad memory stuff.
