The pain had started the evening prior, but Hayley thought it was just the baby shifting around and deciding that it needed to move again. She kept track of them, but didn't think much of it. She hadn't ever gone to a doctor to get her exact due date. She knew roughly, but she wasn't sure if that would match up evenly once she had gone through the veil. By the middle of the morning, she's pretty sure that this is not just an odd feeling. She finds Rebekah and lets her know so that she can go figure out whatever needs to be figured out. The one thing that she knows is that her water hasn't broken yet, so that's a small favor.

She would be really okay with a few more small favors.

[Hayley's water breaks and it seems like everything has just been pushed forward. That whole time to push thing is probably ahead and whoever is nearest to her is possibly getting a broken hand by the end of this.

[ solace is not overly accustomed to births in the castle, but he's not new to it either. he's here mostly to supervise, which might be good, because i rolled for complications and hayley is going to be in some massive additional pain.

[You are the worst!! Hayley is a werewolf though! She's spent a good eight years dealing with physical transformations - this should help her... right?

After her writer figures this out it has been ascertained that it isn't so bad with her fortitude roll of 16 + 8 modifier!! Unless her writer did that wrong, but she still can FEEL the pain, she just handles it really well.

[ surprise, vi is here for baby duty. she is all over this. ]

It's fine, you'll be fine, I promise and I'm going to need you to trust me on this, I will not let anything happen to her. Just keep breathing, okay? If you're in distress, the baby will be in distress, so I need you to just keep breathing right now. [ so calm, so zen, vi is a fucking chill ass lady right now. but her diplomacy is only 14, which seems legit considering, you know, the active labor. right in front of her. hey. but she means it! she's not going to let anything happen to hayley's baby. except being born, that can happen.

she glances over at solace like YOU WANNA GIMME A HAND HERE DUDE. ] Can you do something for the pain? That is not my forte and I'm ten million percent sure an Advil ain't gonna cut it this time.

[Hayley believes Vi, but she also knows that she's not gonna let anything happen to her daughter either. She's fought against too many people to ensure her survival to just let something happen now. The reminder about being in distress connects, though, and she tries to relax. It's just hard when there's another living being trying to exit her body in the most painful way possible.]

Isn't it too late for drugs? [Because, she's not even sure how her tolerance to any of it would work with the fact that her baby is half vampire half werewolf.]

It is, yeah, but luckily, you know, we have magic and stuff. Magic epidurals don't have the same time limit regular epidurals have, I'm sure. [ speaking of magic, she casts a heightened quick boost on hayley to give a temporary (four rounds) + 4 to her constitution score so she can, hopefully, deal better with the pain. ]

I'm gonna have to... get in there in a sec. See what's going on with her, okay? [ she is calm, yes, but that doesn't take away from vi's natural awkward babble. it is just kind of a little hard to say "i need to stick my hand up your junk to see what's up with your uterus". she thinks she is doing well under the circumstances. and so is hayley, so she's going to remind hayley of that. ] You're doing great so far.

No! [Hayley's face is stern on this one.] No magic. [After witches hexing her and Father Kieran, plus their overall desire to kill Hayley, the way they killed Davina and all that they put her through, and everything else she's seen done for the "good" of magic, she's definitely not good with any spells or magic being done on her.]

I can do this. I broke every bone in my body twice a month for eight years. I can handle this. [Those monthly transformations from age 13 to 21 tends to give a girl some pain tolerance.]

Go ahead and do whatever you have to. [Because she's not going to just say "You are welcome to go spelunking in my uterus." to Vi.]

....oh my god? Like... wow. That's... ow.

[ okay, vi, get back on track. she shakes her head to regain her focus. ] No magic, got it. There's still stuff we can do for pain. Like, um... [ THINK VIOLET, THINK. ] Uh, acupressure!

[ before she dives in, she holds up her arm, bending it so her hand rests on her shoulder. ] See this little crease? [ she points to the crease made by her bent elbow, taking to whomever is getting their hand crushed by hayley's grip. ] Apply pressure there, it should make the contractions easier to deal with. [ knowledge: earth and life sciences 17. it works on period cramps, she is literally just winging it for any option that will give hayley a bit of relief.

and then, spelunking ahoy to find out what is going on with that baby. heal/treat injury 22?? idk. ]

[ solace had been all ready to make with the spells, but when hayley protests so strongly, he exchanges a look with vi and nods, stepping away to leave them. from what vi can tell, the birth is going to involve an abnormal presentation, which could mean its head might get caught. ]

[Women do natural childbirth all the time, so she figures she can handle this. Even if it does feel like something is really wrong. She's trying not to get upset, but when you're in pain and something is wrong it's difficult to just be sunshine and kittens about it all.

She'll do some of that breathing that Eve had been teaching her, since originally she was supposed to give birth with her at her side.]

[ oh boy. deep breath. she leans back, peeling her gloves off and dropping them on the floor, so she can push her hair back from her face, tucking it behind her ears. ]

Okay, here's the deal. The baby isn't facing the right way. It's not 100% a bad thing, but it does explain why you're in more pain than you should me. But we do have a few options, so don't worry.

So, I can try to move her into the right position? [ she sort of pantomimes how that could work, holding her hands apart and then twisting them a bit to the side. ] It might not work, but I think it's worth trying regardless. If she doesn't move, we can try pushing but we run the risk of her head getting stuck. In a normal presentation, the head comes out first because it's the largest part and the rest of her the body just sort of slips out. In a breech presentation, either her tush comes out first or her feet and her head could get stuck. And you may have to have an emergency c-section.

[ she's still calm, like she is in her element right now, because she doesn't want hayley to panic and she's trying to lay down the facts as simply as possible with as much information as possible without bogging her down with scary what ifs. ]

[Hahahahaha and Hayley thought that it'd be easier to give birth here instead of the middle of the bayou.]

Just do whatever you need to do - I don't really think that I have a say in this. She [the baby] seems to be calling all the shots here.

[and then things will happen!! and Hayley will make it through!!]

[ with some probably incredibly painful finagling, vi turns the baby around and then it's all systems go with the regular pushing and the... more pain. it's not a very comfortable thing, giving birth, but hayley manages like a champ and once the pushing is done and all the gross stuff is dealt with and cords are cut like a professional episode of er and a tiny little cry is begging for her mommy, vi passes over the little wriggling bundle of blankets and adorable. ]

Meet your little girl. She looks just like her Momma.

[ and vi will bow out so the little family can do little family things and she can tell solace that he better have so many drugs available or she's going to probably murder someone. :) CONGRATS HAYLEY! ]
