The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Baby's First Nat 20 and it had to be on a disguise check for FAITH. :|

Anyway, Faith apparently had someone else dress her for the after party. she's in a dress and her eyeliner has perfect wings. She's got nice heels and there's not a single speck of dirt or blood or demon-goo. Faith had planned on just wearing jeans and a black top, but then something overcame her and she went all out.

She had heard Cordelia's name and since the last time she saw Cordy she hadn't really gotten the "let's be friends" vibe from her, she's trying to be cautious. She has a spot check of 14, so she notices that her hair is definitely longer and lacking highlights. Faith figures she can risk it.]

Here I thought you'd just rock the armor at the party to show everyone how it's done.

[ there's definitely recognition as she turns to survey her, though she clearly looks surprised by the ensemble. ] Faith?

The lack of trashy ensemble must have thrown me off. What are you doing here?

[Yeah, she's just going to ignore the remark and credit it to Cordy being Cordy.]

Nah, I'm already a coma ahead of that one, Cor. The veil took me after I had a trip out to LA. Saved the world. The usual.

[Faith laughs.] Yeah, that's a real kick. Him and B' both are big on the forgetting everything and denying the truth thing. [She shrugs.]

As for me, I've had my share of screw-ups, but I got put on the right path. Turned myself in, served some time, then Wes got me out and I did that whole Slayer saves the world thing. Now I'm here.

Slayer of the blonde variety. Kinda known for being the better version if anyone was given a choice. Not that she knows any of that.

Yeah... she kinda had the gig before me. Still has the gig too, but here she's just a bit off -- in the whole not remembering a damn thing part.

Buffy Summers couldn't even take on a homecoming queen campaign without messing it up. You really think anyone's going to trust her with the fate of the world?

It's not like I picked her out of a crowd and said - "She's the one." Cor - I pretty much came late to the party and she had already been eating the cake. [Hey, she's pretty proud of herself for that... comparison. Faith wouldn't know the difference between a simile or a metaphor anyway.]

We were handling our vampire problem just fine before any Slayers showed up, thank you. But believe me, I wasn't sad to leave that place in another dimension.

Handling it? Pretty sure there were just a lot of 'gangs' and 'kids on PCP'. [Faith opts for the air quotes on those.]

[Faith shakes her head, still trying to wrap her head around what the hell the Veil did to Cordy.]

So, Cor, out of curiosity - when did you guys figure out that vampires were just drawn to your town? 'Cuz when I got there - you know, I was just there to keep the peace. [She guesses??]

[ her eyebrows draw together, the obvious gaps that she doesn't even realize are there making it hard to explain anything the more she thinks about it ] Pretty sure Giles was the one always going on about it.

Yeah, I figured as much. [Faith nods, letting her off the hook and convinced that something definitely went wrong with her trip through the veil.]

Squire... but it's kinda the same way anyone does, I guess. Through the veil, do something ... reckless with a bit of purpose and it raises a flag.
