The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[ long time, no see. actually, it's probably been a month or so, since that whole weird conversation revolving around nadia... but francesca wanders up to spike, regardless, wearing a pleasant smile and holding out a drink. ] Glad to see the caterer's don't go unappreciated.

[That's even better than finger food! He takes it with a smile.]

I wasn't sure you still enjoyed this sort of food as much as... [ well, you know, blood. but she's not sure that's an appropriate topic of conversation for such a setting. besides, she'd like to keep her appetite.

she considers him for a few moments, taking in his appearance and the smile on his face, as she hands over the glass of wine. ] I'm glad to see you back to your old self. You certainly clean up nice, as always. [ which more means you look the same as always, spike, but never change ]

[It's a good same look! He takes a sip of the wine with a smirk.]

I enjoy all sorts of food. I might not need it like humans do, but it's tasty. Even--maybe especially--the ones that use garlic.

I've always pegged you for the 'likes to live dangerously'-type. [ watch yourself, spike, she's going in for the hug, burying her face in his chest ] And I've certainly missed your sense of humor.

[He looks a little startled. He's not really the hugging type. But he's missed her too, so he wraps an arm around her and hugs back.]

Yeah, I've missed you too, pet.

[ she's not normally the hugging type either, but remember that time he gave her that weird shirtless hug?? she assumes all hugs are fair game now. ] I'm glad to see you back to your normal self, Spike.

No, I think you seem even better than you did before.

Really? How so? [He smirks, raising his eyebrows, clearly fishing for compliments.]

You have an air of fresh confidence surrounding you, as if you've no doubt where you belong anymore, and that that's here with us, despite your disdain for following orders. [ she smirks ] It just seems as if you've fully embraced your path and taken full control of your future - your destiny - and nothing that happens from here on out will dissuade you from such determination.

[bigbad]

[Now he looks kind of embarrassed, glancing away. It's a lot of nice things to say about a guy, and he's not sure he believes all of it. Full control of his destiny? Hell, he has no clue what he's doing half the time.]

So long as I still don't have to follow any orders I don't like.

Well, I'm not certain that's exactly how authority works, but I'm sure you'll be able to reach a happy medium.

[He smiles at her.] So what brought on this sudden round of compliments? Are you trying to get a favor?

No, although you're right to assume as much. I suppose that'd usually be the case in a situation such as this. [ she winks at him, shoving him a bit with her shoulder ] Alas, I merely wanted to remind you of said confidence, lest you find it wavering sometime in the close future... but I wouldn't protect a dance, either.

[bigbad]

After you said such nice things to me? How can I say no? [He smiles and offers her his hand.]

[ she follows his lead, a man who leads so confidently being one of her favorite things in the world tbh, giving his hand an affectionate squeeze. when they reach the floor she slides her free hand to his shoulder and easily falls into step with him (dance 17, b/c she won't use charm on spike... right now, at least). ]

You'd do right to learn it's exceedingly difficult to ever say 'no' to me. [ but she's still grinning, obviously teasing... mostly ]

[ she arches an eyebrow, smirking mischievously ] And I'm relentless.

[He raises his eyebrows, smirking back.] Sounds almost like you're flirting, pet.
