after-party ♔ october

♬ Jeux d'eau - Ravel
WHO || Wynn, any and all Knights not currently on missions (if you are uncertain if your character would be at the castle for this, ask!)ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.
WHAT || Squiring Ceremony Afterparty
WHERE || Knights Headquarters, the Ballroom
WHEN || October 1st, 2014, 6:00PM [backdated]
HOW || Prose OR Actionspam
The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).
The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.
Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.
Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

Will Save 8...]
So is that your plan? Play the sympathy card to anyone who'll listen to get them on your side?!
no subject
What are you talking about?
no subject
You. Shooting your mouth off to Helen.
no subject
[What conversation were you even listening to?]
What, that I told her I was upset that no one bothered to tell me that Dean was being squired? Surprised that he even decided to do it at all? That he probably needs a mentor with patience? Please tell me which of those things you consider 'shooting my mouth off.'
no subject
Why should they?! Nobody told him when you showed up but I guess it only matters when you're the one not in the loop, huh? And for the record?! There's no assumptions about it. Wynn does know what he's doing and so does Dean.

When, exactly, did I say that I thought this was a bad idea? Or do you have selective hearing and chose to ignore the part where I said I was going to trust that Wynn would pick him a good mentor?
[He presses his lips together to calm himself before he looks her dead in the face.]
I'm going to tell you this just once. You can think all you want that I think this is a him versus me thing, but you're wrong. The only side I'm on is Dean's. There is literally no one here that wants him here more than me, and if you think it's you, you're wrong.
[His voice is firm, but he's not yelling. He's just trying to get her to actually listen.]
I defended him when I first met Helen because I wanted her to understand where my brother was coming from, the kind of life we lived growing up. [This Dean is similar enough to his own that he assumes it had to have been at least somewhat similar.] If you would just stop immediately assuming the worst about everything that comes out of my mouth, you'd save yourself a lot of stress.
He's my brother. Siblings complain. We hate each other and love each other at the same time, and I'd die for him in a heartbeat. I think this place will be good for him. Maybe I just wanted to be a part of that decision.

Rose does at least manage to remain silent throughout, staring at him as the words tumble out of his mouth and while there’s a definite tension running through her body, she’s at least not reaching for a weapon (WS Nat 20) – cause if you think her wearing a dress mean she showed up unarmed?! You’re wrong. She learned that lesson after Elena’s Knighting Ceremony.
The problem with everything he’s saying is that it all hinges on the idea that Rose even has the vaguest clue how families work. As far as she knows, she has no siblings and while her existence is proof of having two parents, even before the veil all but obliterated her memories of them, there weren’t many memories to be had.
For Rose, now? Her mother is little more than the person who shoved her off to be raised by strangers, the woman who was never there when she scraped her knees, the woman who didn’t even call her on her birthdays. Her strongest memory of her is tied to the necklace she had, the very one Rose had given to Dean before they left for Andres.
She might not want to give away much to Sam but it’s there, in her face, the confusion as he talks about siblings, the frustration as she tries to read him and again she can’t tell whether he’s telling her the truth or if he’s just completely full of shit and that same frustration makes her voice tight, her words a little louder than they perhaps should be. (WS 12 + SM 11)]
You don’t think I want to believe what you’re saying? You don’t think that maybe, I want this for him?
[Because she does, no matter what she says or does where Sam is concerned, Rose really does wish this is real but if she’s wrong, if she’s wrong and she encourages Dean and something happens? How is she ever supposed to live with herself?!
Rose takes in a deep breath and slowly lets it out, still staring at him like a neon flashing sign would appear above his head and tell her if he’s good or evil.
In the end she shakes her head and shocks the world by tapping into one of her rarely used skills to try and make herself clear, no snark, no attitude, just a level tone as she allows the words to pass her lips. (Wis 18 + Diplomacy 23 – and everyone dies of shock.)]
You want me to not assume the worst about you? Maybe you could start by not trying to make a night that’s supposed to be about him, about you. Especially to somebody you apparently know has a problem with him. [After another moment she shakes her head.] Try just being proud of him instead. I am.
no subject
He just doesn't agree with it.]
Then maybe you should take your own advice. I'm not the one that started drama here. That's all on you and your misunderstandings.
[He takes a sip of his drink, looking away.]
So maybe you should just walk away. If anyone's making Dean look bad? It's you. Not me.
no subject
If I catch you talking about him behind his back again, I'm going to break your face. [Kind of an FYI really as she turns to walk away.]
no subject
[Because clearly Rose and Dean have never bitched about him, oh no. This isn't high school, people talk.
At least she's gone now so he can sulk into his drink again. Good riddance.]
no subject
So I see you've met Rose. [ lila manages to make rose sound like "ogre excrement". it's a skill really. ] I was wondering who she was going to pick a useless fight with this party. She used to just stay away because she's afraid of me. Pity she decided to stop.
no subject
[Rose has gotten all up in his face before. But this conversation was definitely one of their worse ones.]
She's being protective of Dean. I'd be more grateful if it wasn't so damn frustrating.
[And directed at him.]
no subject
no subject
[And he's really not kidding. It's not just a matter of some family fight and Rose is trying to prevent drama or something.]
She thinks I'm something I'm not. They both do.
no subject
[ but she wants deets so she looks up up up at sam curiously. ] Is this about that fight you guys had in the middle of the hall after the briefing?
[ she wasn't listening but she had heard dean's dulcet tones. they carried. ]
no subject
I came through the Veil. Dean didn't.
[As if that makes...all the sense.]
no subject
she breathes out an incredibly eloquent: ] Fuck.
[ she'll get to questioning in a second. for now she just looks at sam with the most sympathy humanly possible. family is literally everything to her. ]
no subject
Considering he nearly tried to kill me right after he saw me, I'm guessing the version of his brother from here isn't...I don't even know, really. But whatever happened, it was really, really bad, and he's not exactly willing to talk about it.
He thinks my being here is some big trick. Or at least, he used to. Now I don't know what he thinks.
no subject
Maybe he was a serial killer. Or like... possessed. Other you, let's call him Thing Two, probably puked pea soup on him and now Dean is just being a petty little bitch about it. Bless him.
[ somehow, that doesn't seem like she's being flippant, more that she's trying to not let the dour mood take over and slam a smile back on sam's face. she's in the dragon's tongue for a reason, okay. ]
You're Thing One, of course.
no subject
[Truth bombs. Also, lol, 'just' possessed.]
I'll find out, though.
no subject
Well, good luck or whatever. If your incessant googling finds anything about curse workers or hyperbathygammic individuals, be sure to let me know.
no subject
You got it. I'll keep an eye out.
no subject
It is real, for the record, despite it probably not existing in your world. At least not on the same scale.
no subject
[Commits it to memory, okay.]
There's not much left I don't believe is possible anymore.
[HE HAS AN EVIL TWIN SOMEWHERE. Everything else is totally normal at this point.]
