The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

Sure. I mean- I'd be lying if I said I wasn't curious. And you're a new squire so I figure I should get to know you anyway, so... Yeah. I'd like to get to know you.

Okay. I'm Malia Tate and I was a coyote for most of my life, but then Scott forced me to change and for a while I was really upset at him, because he had no right to take away what I was so used to. I was just supposed to go back to my house and to my father, but it was too difficult - so I went to Eichen House, because I felt like I had no real idea of how to be this normal girl and then I met you - again - and ... [Maybe this is too much all at once.]

You meant... in time, didn't you? I'm still trying to adjust.

[She nods.]

I was young and confused. My first turn happened in a car; it caused an accident and I lost my mother and sister. After that I just stayed a coyote. I didn't want to be a girl anymore.

Sorry. About your mom and sister. [ she focuses on that because she is thea queen, she of the family that just keeps dying. ]

Yeah I meant-- it's okay. This place can be kind of overwhelming. I almost had a panic attack during my party, so you're not doing so bad.

[Cora honestly has no idea. She had the benefit of being saved by the knights and getting to stick around and learn how they worked before she actually got squired. She has no idea what someone should ask who's diving in head first.]

Did they explain the sects and stuff? Or did you get a tour?

[She could do a tour. She's very good at tours.]

A tour would be good. [She's pretty sure she got the very basic "Here's the kitchen. Here's your room" tour.]

Sometimes. [ yes. a lot. all the time. always. that doesn't deserve a bluff check. ] My brother, my other brother, is here, but he's -- [ ollie, tbh. ] -- busy.

The people here that should know me -- they don't. Except Liam. They were starting to be my family, but -- it's hard to learn how to act when the people I'm used to looking at don't act the way I need them to.

[Because that would require them to remember her and not look at her like a stranger.]

[ L M A O thea feels that so hard. and that was just in starling city when it turned out her parents were mass murderers and her dad wasn't even her dad and everything was awful. she didn't even have memory loss in the mix with that crap. ]

Yeah. [ her lips purse slightly and she crosses her arms, slightly uncomfortable with how hard she feels this. ] It's supposed to get better, like you get used to it.

[She's good at body language (sense motive 18) and picks up that this isn't something she should pursue... but she's curious and this second will save is only a 7...]

How long will it take? To adapt?

[ apologetically: ] I haven't figured that part out yet. Still working on it.

Progress. [She nods.] Stiles says -- he would say that I make progress.

He's right. It's not really something you figure out in a day. I've known my brother my entire life and I'm still trying to figure out where we stand.

You should ask. [Malia has found that being direct - while not always favorable - is effective.]

Ollie... [ she hums thoughtfully. ] Ollie sucks at questions. And he'd just tell me what he thinks I want to hear. He's older than me so he thinks it's his job to protect me.

Where you're from did you need protection? [It's a valid question to her. She's from a world where there are werewolves and kitsune and all sorts of things that could hurt someone.]

[ her mouth opens to say no, but she closes it quickly. ] Maybe, but Ollie isn't going to be much help.

Have you ever asked for his help?

[ begrudgingly: ] No.

[Tour she can do. There are lots of different places to go in the castle, and it's definitely better than hanging out at the party.]

[And with that she'll take a step back and tip her head towards one of the doors, ready to lead her out and show her around.]
