Cordelia and Steve have gotten together to plan a rather fun party to celebrate Sarandis being taken down. Abbie even managed to grab them a rather awesome band to entertain the guests and everything else was hand picked and decided on by Cordy and Steve. It's not as fancy as a squiring after party, but it's just as fun. The ballroom has been "dressed down" a little to match the relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy yourselves!

To be fair, when you've got your own bar and it's an hour's drive, those are some serious hurdles to being worth it in the first place.

Yeah, I mean, you do have Kali ... [he takes a sip from his drink while looking at her with slightly raised eyebrows waiting for the confirm/deny.]

What are you talking about?

[teasing] I think you two'd be cute together.

Wh— [ She fumbles, suddenly glad he's the one holding the drink and not her. ] Did she ... What makes you say that? Did she say something to you?

[ambitionist]

Mmm, wouldn't you like to know.

[hacker]

Yeah, actually, I really would. So come on, out with it.

[ambitionist]

[he just shrugs.] She had an adorably Kali conversation with me about sexuality not too long after we picked up you and Quill. I'm guessing homosexuality wasn't really a thing back home at supersoldier camp.

[hacker]

[ That surprises her, catches her effectively off-guard enough that all she manages to do with her reaction is limit it to a not happy face, grim and strained by the news. She glances away, folding her arms over her chest, and settles in for a crisis planning discussion. ]

And she hasn't said anything since then?

No. Skye, geez, c'mon. If she was really into you, she probably would've said something by now. You know she's as blunt as a sledgehammer.

[hacker]

Dammit, Alex! [ She punches him square in the arm. ] Then don't freak me out like that! The last thing I would ever wanna do is hurt Kali.

Hey! [that's his whole reaction to being punched. hey.] I wasn't trying to freak you out! I just wanted to see if she ever said anything.

Sorry. [ She holds her hands up, sighing. ] Sorry. I know. It's just ... Look, I'm flattered, I guess, but ... Believe me, I'm the last person Kali should be with.

[time to drink some more of his drink. which he was lucky enough to not lose any of while being punched.] Oh yeah? Why's that?

[hacker]

Because she's ... [ And there's something wistful and earnest in the way Skye strains for the right word, the right description. ] Good. There's this light in her, and she's held onto it despite everyone who should have been taking care of her trying to snuff it out. She's had enough shit in her life. She deserves better than what I'd ... than whatever I could give her.
