[Yeah, Kate actually fared better against the dragons she's faced, to be honest, but she's really not in any position to debate that right now. While she manages not to pass out from the sudden assault (fort save 16), she knows she needs to force the gargoyle off her in order to give herself room to recover, and she reacts on instinct more than anyone else.

The temperature drops, her hand starting to ice over as an ice javelin forms and she launches it towards the gargoyle attacking her, hopefully impaling it somehow (ranged touch attack 27, cold damage 5). If it hits and the gargoyle doesn't have a cold subtype it needs to make a will save (DC 14) or take a cumulative -1 enchantment penalty to attacks, AC, and reflex saves for the next 24 hours or until healed.

And if that hits, she'll try and take a five foot step back to get the start of some distance.]
