[After about five weeks spent in Slovechnia, aiding refugees in escaping and helping to quell riots wherever they can, the Knights are finally returning to the castle! This log is for any in-flight interactions on the Knights' private plane ride back from the mission site. Feel free to make your own threads, etc. The flight time is approx four hours.

Please continue to backlog the meeting with Valentin \o\ However, your characters are now free to participate in castle logs until they are shipped out again. :3]

[At some point during the plane ride, Tia will come and sit down next to Andie, a little smile on her face.]

I think congratulations are in order.

[Andie blushes a little, but she's grinning.] It was just my job!

[Riddick is once again sitting towards the back of the plane, though this time he seems much more contemplative than stand-offish. He looks out the tiny window of the plane, chin resting on the back of his hand with his elbow up on one knee, though it is hard to tell if he's sleeping or thinking.]

[The smile widens, and she places a hand on the girl's arm]

And you did that job like you were born to it.

[There's a slight beat] Which is why I wanted to congratulate you on getting your recommendation.

[Fred saunters his way back there, placing one hand on the lip of the baggage compartment above as he leans slightly past Riddick to look out the window]

Couple more hours and we'll be home again. Always kinda weird after being away for so long, but it never stops feeling good to go back.

[Riddick looks up as Fred begins speaking, then follows his gaze out the window. He stays silent for a moment but can't seem to think of anything sarcastic enough to say. Home. What a strange concept to someone like him. He'd been on the run far too many years to ever know what it was like to have a home, yet here he was going back to the same place, to live with the same people and maybe get to know some of them.

Very strange indeed.]

That right? [This is said in his rumbly deep voice, but no hint of sarcasm can be found.]

[Fred glances back at him, watching him for a sec, before quirking a lip in a smile and standing a little more erect]

Could be yours too, you know.

If you wanted it to be.

[Now Riddick finds his sense of sarcasm. He quirks an eyebrow up at Fred, his rumbling answer tinged with a bit of wry humor.]

That right? [He quirks up a bit of a smile, but it soon fades from his face as he looks back out the window. All traces of humor vanish as he adds:] Not sure there's too much need for someone like me in there. Not many people wanna live with someone like me.

Even if it was something I wanted, I doubt I'd know what to do with a place to call home.

[Fred turns to face him fully, folding his arms, and leaning against the side of the back of the seat in front of him]

What exactly do you think we have "need" of then? Guys who can't get the job done?

Don't know how much time you've gotten to look around back at the castle, but you're not the only dude who might be lacking in what some people call social skills. That isn't really a pre-req to the gig.

It's about what you wanna do with yourself, and whether you've got anything to give. And what I saw these last few weeks was someone giving it everything he had.

It isn't so much about the lack of sociability on my part, more like the fact that where I come from, I'm and escaped, convicted murderer. I don't know how many of those you got running around, but I'm not sure how many other unsociable's got that on their resume.

[He hadn't turned to see Fred's reaction until the last words were out. He looks back to Fred then, pulling his goggles up and off so his eyes catch and reflect in the light.]

To be honest it felt good being there, doing what I could. I've never been the kinda guy to do shit like this before. Sure as hell helps that it was something I'm good at. [Not smug at all, uh uh.]

[Andie looks dumbfounded. She is FAST but right now she's being slow on the uptake.] My recommendation? You're recommending me? Is this like a recommending I read some kind of book or a really bad April Fools joke because that would be seriously uncool and really? Recommendation? Me?

It's not a joke, I promise. We're still a day out from April Fool's after all.

I think you've demonstrated quite clearly that you're capable of pulling this off. And it's more than evident that this is exactly where you want to be.

Besides, [she bumps her with her shoulder] are you really surprised that you'd wind up on the fast track? Seems like the only way you live your life.

[Fred holds his gaze, not intimidated in the least by the claim.]

Wynn doesn't care who you used to be. And the truth is? The rest of us don't either.

We care about who you want to be.

[He holds his gaze a few seconds more, seeming to weigh Fred's words carefully. "Who you want to be." What a question to give a man like Riddick.

What he wanted to be was alive. His entire life was based on that one fact alone. Survival was the only thought that had driven him to do any of the things he had done so far. Making it to another day, another dawn no matter what planet or solar system he was in, his instinct was to save his own life. Not others.

Yet, helping in Slovechnia. Saving the slaves, fighting for those who couldn't fight for themselves had been...

He'd never had anyone to stand up for him when he couldn't fight for himself, so early on he had to learn that to save his life he would have to take the lives of others. Maybe this was his chance at atonement for the things he had done. Not that he'd asked for atonement, but here it was. If he was right.

If he took that chance.]

How interesting. [And yes, for all that inner dialogue, that is all Fred gets in response. Though Riddick does look at him again, almost seeming to ask a silent question.]

I'm gonna put this out there:

You did well enough that if you were any other guy, I'd recommend you right off the bat when we got back.

But I'm not gonna do it unless you tell me to.

[That gets a bit of a giggle from her because FAST JOKES ARE HILARIOUS.]

Wow. I gotta tell my dad! How much longer is this plane ride?

[She pauses again, looking over at Tia with her eyes wide and excited looking.] You really mean it?

I think we've got about another hour. I would hold off on calling him though - he'll probably want to hear about this in person.

[And she pats Andie's arm again, settling back in her seat] There's not a part of me that doubts the decision.

But we do have decide on which sect you're going to join.

[He looks out the window once more, allowing himself another moment to think. He had to make a choice, but really what other choice did someone like him have? And would he even have wanted another?

Truth be told he was tired of how he'd lived his life so far. Tired of the running, tired of the violence, tired of never having a safe place to rest his head and not knowing whether he'd have enough food in his belly.

He looks back to Fred, his face set in serious lines.]

A recommendation might be kinda nice. I'd appreciate it.

[ That's what he thought. B) ]

We'd have to decide on where you're headed though. Big guy like you could fit right into my sect.

Yeah, I probably could. I dunno where else I could really fit in. I sure as hell don't use magic or shit.

I aminterested in the tech you guys have. Could I work with both Sections, Hide and Hoarde?

You'd have to pledge yourself to one, but nobody really sticks to just doing one thing and one thing alone. [A pause] Ok, maybe some of the old guys who get set in their ways do. Either way, you're free to work with the gadget department when you want, you'll just be classified as a combat guy when it comes to distributing people for missions.

Sounds good to me. [He reaches out a hand, giving Fred's a hearty shake.] So, we still on for that sparring match when we get back?

[Fred clasps his hand tightly] Lookin' forward to it.

Same here. [Manly hand-shake and nod following. Riddick is the manliest of the men, all words are conveyed in a hand-shake and a nod apparently. Gruff gruff gruff.]

[She thinks about it, glancing away, for a full thirty seconds.] I don't think I want to do much fighting. [She looks back at Tia.] I mean, I can, duh, but it's scary and I don't like hurting people.

[Tia watches her out of the corner of her eye, sympathy in her expression]

... If you ask me, you wouldn't really fit in with that bunch of meatheads, anyways.

[Yep. Andie's not a meathead. That much she knows.] How about Dragon's Tongue? Could I do more of like, the whole slave freeing thing? Though I mean, I'm not always great at paying attention. So maybe not.

I think you're more charming than you give yourself credit for. It seems a good fit - and we need people who can shoot straight to the point, or deal with regular people as much as we need diplomats who can talk your ear off for hours like Koraith.

I don't know. I can talk people's ears off sometimes. But in like, a totally different way. [She grins.] So that's it? I'm gonna be a real Knight?

Almost too easy, isn't it?

Yeah! Even for me, it feels fast!

The hard part comes now. Sticking around.

Oh, I'm not worried about that. [She leans back in her seat, stretching a bit.] I'm sticking around for a while at least.

I thought you might say that.
