While the senior Knights head for the last known location of the Greater Fihyr beast, the rest of the on-call Knights are encouraged to spread out through heavily populated areas, looking for the smaller versions of the things and wiping them out before sunrise takes care of the remainders. As easy as that makes it sound, if a number of the fear-generated monsters are allowed to converge, they'll form up into another Greater Fihyr: which don't have the same vulnerability to daylight as their lesser parts.

[ The truly brave or stupid might disobey orders and head after the Senior Knights to try to take out (or just see) the Greater Fihyr for themselves. It's your funeral. ]

[Andie is here! With her new rapier that she's practiced using. Not enough to get weapon finesse, but at least she's fast enough to get out of the way of things. Usually.]

Keep your eyes open, lass. And shout if you see anything. Remember that not all of us are as quick as some. [He gives her a wink and rotates his wrist holding the morningstar.]

[ A few pigeons are making nervous noises milling about the square. It's the sound of one person starting to make frenzied frightened babbling noises on the other side of the fountain, however, that attracts the most notice. ]

Uh... I think I heard some... [And combat's kind of terrifying, so she's happy to not rush ahead. She holds her sword in front of her and starts heading slowly towards the fountain.]

[Of course Riddick chooses the Underground, he feels right at home in the semi-darkness that comes with it. He also isn't afraid of going it alone- he ain't scurred. He is armed and ready, goggles in place and adrenaline thrumming lightly through his veins in anticipation of a fight.

He sticks to the darker corners, scanning the thinning crowd and the passengers as they come and go among the trains.]

[Nervous but no less resolved, Rayna makes her way out into the open streets of the West End, with the gun issued by the Knights and a rifle...in case she needs more punch. She's not totally alone, though. Boaz is with her, but not to fight.]

If anyone's hurt, find them for me.

[She pats him reassuring behind the ears, more for her than for him, and let's him go. For now she's relying on sunlight; hopefully it lasts.]

[ ooc; the log is all taking place after sundown so I was a little confused by the sunlight comment, hopefully I explained that ok orz ;;

EITHER WAY, Boaz certainly attracts attention as he moves through the streets here, as it's a crowded night as usual in the fashionable West End. A few people exclaim and look frightened when they see him, but he is undeterred from the course that he's sniffing out. He stops at the entrance to a building and barks twice, looking back at her as if to say HERE. It's brightly lit, but people don't stream in and out like they do from other locales... Strange.]

[ People pass busily through the subway tunnel, bumping into each other, making angry comments. But a sharp eye or ear (listen or spot 17) will notice that people are acting more bizarre than might even be expected, at one end of the stop. Their eyes dart around nervously, they affix other passengers with particularly hostile looks, women hurry onto the subway train as quickly as they can, eyeing the men waiting on the platform as if they were potential serial killers. ]

[Thoster turns and follows after her, his weapon at the ready.]

You any good with that thing, love?

[Morgan's just chillin' leaning against a streetlamp as he keeps an eye on things.]

I love Riddick, he always rolls the Nat 20's for me.

[With a Nat 20 spot check Riddick notices the increased paranoia of the passengers at the other end of the station from himself, finding what he had been looking for easily enough. He'd been told the warning signs to look for and not needing any further confirmation that one of these creatures must be there he begins to swiftly make his way there.

He eases the folded Ulak blades from his belt, not releasing them quite yet, though all it would take was a quick snap of his wrists. His baser instincts kick in as he approaches, his sense of smell (Wisdom check 17) picking up barely discernible differences in the flavor of the air. His ears try to pick apart the individual sounds created by all the foot traffic and trains, but there is just too much to make out very many subtle noises (Listen check 13).]

[ It happens all too suddenly. A high pitched scream, and the crowd disperses enough that he can see the little girl standing there, hand in her mother's, rooted to the spot as she stands, facing the oncoming floating blob like horror bearing down on them. Her mother tugs on her hand impatiently, hushing her, and then looks to see what she's staring at, and opens her own mouth to scream.

The fiyhr lunges over the little girl's head, teeth sinking into the mother's shoulder, and the girl's screams mix with sobs as she tries to grab one of its tentacles to yank it off.]

[The quiet hum of traffic and pedestrians fills the air, laughter and distant honks, and the clipping sound of heels on pavement as people rush out of shops and hurry to meet friends or lovers or appointments. It's busy and alive, and there seems to be no signs of panic around here. Hmm.]

I'm... okay. [SHE'S BEEN PRACTICING BUT IT'S HARD. Still, she flashes him an encouraging grin.] Don't worry, I totally know what I'm doing. [She hopes.]

[Oh, I see how it is. Fine. He'll just STAY here looking all cool and shit and WAIT for something to happen... or until it's time to go home and go to bed.]

[bluffcheck]

[He winks at her.]

Stay close. We'll be just fine.

[Because fake confidence is better than nothing, right?]

[ Yep. NOTHING TO SEE HERE. NOTHING AT ALL. NOTHIN--

Someone shoves past him abruptly, walking quickly, and hitting him pretty hard with their shoulder. They turn around, holding both hands up defensively, looking hella uncomfortable. ]

Hey, watch it buddy.

[ Someone better have SOME confidence here, because as they round the fountain, they see one of the spectral jellyfish like aberrations launching itself at a young man in a hoodie, while onlookers start screaming in terror, pushing past each other to try to get away. ]

[Andie still has no confidence, but that's not gonna stop her from acting. Especially since she can move faster than she can think. With a shout, she leaps into action, zooming over rapier first and slamming it into the jellyfish (atk nat 20, damage 10).]

[Thoster's not as quick as his female companion, but he does dive in to the chaos. Unfortunately, he's a bit rusty. He swings his morningstar at the beast, but just misses (attack: 16)]

Damn it all!

[Riddick sprints forward the few steps remaining between himself and the beast, his wrist snapping one blade easily into position. He drives it across the creatures back [atk 19], attempting to yank it sideways off of and away from the mother. His other hand snatches the girl away from the dangerous tentacle, a growl coming out of his mouth.] Don't!

[He twists his body with a rough jerk, the blade still lodged in the creature's back, his opposite arm wrapped around the child's stomach protectively.]

[ A number of hideous golden eyes begin rolling in place, trying to settle on the blur that just stabbed RIGHT INTO ONE OF THEM, and its mouth opens to let out a shriek, revealing lines of needle-sharp hideous teeth. It naturally tries to nip at her first, and gets a really lame crit sinks its fangs into her arm... for all of 2 hit points damage, yep.

That'll count as the surprise round... and it rolled a 12 init. Andie got a 22, Thoster can plug in wherever he rolls! And actually, the creature was flat-footed last round, which your GM forgot, so a 16 would hit, so lemme know damage for that too, yes. ]

[ The fihyr detaches with a hiss as it tries to float away from Riddick, thrashing on the blade. (roll for damage! def is 18 for future reference) The little girl grabs her mother, tearfully urging her to run, which she's all too glad to do. ]

[Andie lets out a yelp of pain as the thing bites her, then swings around to hack at it again with her sword. She's distracted by the pain, so this time she misses (atk 7). She looks over at Thoster anxiously.]

Help?

[Thoster's initiative is a lowly 13, which apparently makes him barely quicker than the beaties. And he apparently did 10 damage last round, so that's cool.

Seeing Andie hack at the creature when it latches onto her, he rushes over to her and brings his morningstar down on the creature (Atk 21 total, 8 damage)]

[ It tries too late to detach its fangs from Andie and spin around towards Thoster, and his morningstar cracks into its weird gelatinous form with enough force to send it whizzing through the air and slamming into the ground, near the foot of some more screaming locals, who run as fast as they can from the scene.

It settles inward on itself as if deflating a bit, and the darting eyes on all sides of it begin to still, until each one stares out lifelessly at nothing. ]

[Andie's breathing hard, which is unusual for her, but the excitement's getting to her. She looks over at Thoster with wide eyes, then over at the dead monster, then finally she grins and lets out a victorious shout.]

YES! Go us! [In a flash, she's next to him and holding her hand up for a high five.]

[His blood is definitely pumping, but when Andie holds up her hand, Thoster just looks at her, slightly confused.]

Aye, we did it. But be on the look out. He might have friends.

Yeah, I'm ready. [She still has her hand up, but he clearly doesn't know what to do with it. She waits expectantly for a moment, then takes pity on him.] You slap my hand. It's called a high five. It's like, celebrating us being awesome.

[bluffcheck]

[He looks again at her palm, then down at his own hand. He lifts it up and gives her his first high five.

Thoster is no longer a high five virgin.

Mark the calendar.]

[She's so proud. She grins at him, then glances around.] There might be more. We should probably go see.

Aye. [He agrees with a serious nod before turning to sweep the area.]
