It's that time again. New squires would have heard the word come 'round that there would be open weapons orientation this Monday - which is also open to anyone who just wants to come spar with the newbies as well. As before, at the top of the main staircase is the entrance to an incredibly spacious room, that has gym and weight training equipment on the wall near the door, and then lots of old school training dummies and more at the far end. A glass door enters into a firing range, and another pair of large doors on the farthest wall lead to the armory.

Sir Luthir stands off to one side, all impassive elf, armored in his light, beautifully worked metal, and carrying a sword. Red-headed Sir Ironsides hefts an axe over his shoulder and offers a boisterous greeting to those approaching, and Fred helps round people up to the middle of the room.

Some of the squires' mentor Knights will have accompanied them - others will have left them to their own devices. Everyone's welcome to tag into threads or make their own!

[Prances back a couple steps and gives it a few test swings, gauging the balance, the way the grip feels in her hand, the pull as she swings it up and the momentum carries it over and around, turning her on her tip toes like a deadly ballerina (dex 22).]

Spring. Which, admittedly, isn't all that creative considering, but I'm pretty sure it can turn a Jabberwocky into a snicker-snack anyway, so I'm going with it.

[ yeah, emma's just gonna give luthir a gesture to indicate she's going to wander away and make use of a lane for shooting. and then go do that ... because she doesn't need a refresher, that's for sure. ]

[It only takes a few steps for him to move into position, and as he settles himself into the spot, he lets his knees gently bend, so that he can hopefully spring into action more easily, and gives a nod to the other to indicate that he's ready.]

[COMMENCE NOT PARTICULARLY HIDDEN BOREDOM and occasional looks back at Emma because he would... rather hang out with her.]

Oh yes please! [She gets a dreamy look, imagining all the violent shenanigans she can get into with this beauty. Oh! Maybe she could murder a poor defenseless target dummy for fun!

[And she just swans off to a free area of the firing range and sets herself up quickly. She lines up the target, steadies herself and, well... shows off, emptying the entire magazine into the target. (Attack 16, 17, 16, 16, 14, nat 20, 18, 9, 17, 17, 12, 19, 15, 20, 12, 16, 11.) Grinning, she pokes the button to bring the target back and glances at her handiwork. She didn't destroy the bull's eye, but she did manage to spell out "Hi". (Nat 20) It might be just a touch facetious.

She turns to glance at elf.] Acceptable?

Unfortunately, no. They're crafted, enchanted, and then given to my kind after they finish their Guardian training, but I don't know much beyond that.

[Once it's returned to him, he re-conceals it in a pocket.]

I'm more comfortable with something like this usually, too.

[Because vampires. Guns didn't work on them, unless you had wooden bullets, and those weren't exactly a common thing.]

Would you recommend something small for close range too? Just in case?

Not at all, not at all. [ he laughs and claps her on the back ] She's all yers. Would't dream of getting between a pretty lass and her weapon.

[She grins and ducks in, moving as fast as she talks, to prod him with her sword before he's entirely finished with his last sentence (atk 24, dmg 4 if we're even rolling for damage idk how sparring works) Also her AC is 22.] Kay.

[ he cocks his head slightly at the target, before looking over at her appraisingly ] Perhaps we can arrange that certification after all.
