[Spike sends Alec a note telling him to meet in the foyer at midnight. He's the knight, that means they get to be on his schedule, right?

[It's a schedule Alec doesn't mind. He has always been more of a night person, anyway.

He shows up about a minute past in blue jeans and a t-shirt for some barely known British tea-house band he picked up in London, hands tucked loosely in his pockets.]

Spike, hey.

[Spike drops the cigarette and stamps it out, then looks up to him with a nod.] Hullo, mate. How've you been settling in?

Oh, very well.

[Between exploring, getting laid and scoping out the training range, he is pretty much already finding his footing and having a blast with it.]

This place is massive.

Only castle in the world with its own bowling alley. [Actually, Spike has no idea if that's true. But he'd bet anything.] I haven't spent that much time here, comparatively. Mostly, I'm out on missions. But it's nice enough to come back to.

Yeah, I saw. [He grinned. It was one of the first things he heard about and even though he had never gone bowling, the fact that there was one amused him. Because who decided this castle could use a little more bowling?]

So you travel a lot? How often do you get to go on missions?

[Because traveling was always more comfortable for someone like Alec. Too long in one place started to make him restless. Paranoid.]

Every month or so. I've been on the same one since I joined, but that's not really usual. Ours just turned out to be a lot more long term than anticipated.

Makes sense. Different missions involve different problems, right? I'm guessing they don't bring us in for the predictable things.

[He was mostly just excited at the prospect of a challenge. Easy was boring. Unpredictable was exciting.]

Yeah, predictability's never been a problem with the knights. [Seriously, he's pretty sure their first mission was supposed to be routine, not... the clusterfuck they've walked into.

Speaking of which... time to see how well his squire responds to unpredictability. He aims a light, slow punch at the side of Alec's head, one that's easily dodgeable or blockable (atk 12), more curious how Alec will respond than actively trying to hurt him. He braces himself for the usual headache that comes from attacking a human and... it doesn't come. Interesting. Well, Spike isn't one to judge on appearances anyway.]
