WHO || Robin Goodfellow and whoever feels like dropping by [open]
WHAT || Robin is making use of the music room, which leaves him a little more emotionally exposed than he usually is. It's a bit of a special day, and not really in a good way.
WHERE || Music Room
WHEN || July 1st, all day and late into the night
HOW || I'll be writing the set-up in prose but whatever you want, I'll take your lead
No matter how much he played the polite and untouchable gentleman, there were only so many things a man could hide from the world and himself, and much as he could lie at just about any other time... Rob had never been able to lie when he sang.
Not many people managed to figure that out though, mostly because he didn't let them. Wouldn't do to let on that he had such an obvious tell after all.
He'd been staying away from this room for that exact reason. Had ignored the seductive whispers from instruments just begging to be touched, to have him caress sweeet music out of them. But this day was special. A birthday, though not his own. It was also one he hadn't been able to celebrate properly for many years. Now there wasn't really much point, was there?
But he could play, and he could remember. So he played, and he sang, to begin with in the language that would always seem more his than any other he learned.
He had perhaps not been as careful about making sure the door was properly closed as he thought he'd been.
ooc: Just pretend it's a guy singing that song, okay? Okay.

[Phineas peers in, but doesn't want to disturb the man who seems so deep in concentration.]
[Even so, the song and curious language have him mystified... Against his better judgement, he presses the door open enough to permit him access to the room.]
[He slumps against the wall, and sits - not wishing to interrupt the strange singer.]

She's quiet, moving into the room, but she doesn't pretend she isn't there, crossing the floor to lean again the piano. Mild curiosity lights on her expression. But she can wait until he is done...]

He isn't consciously aware of the fact that he has an audience (yet), but suddenly singing felt less appropriate for some reason. ]

I take requests.

[She shrugs, nonchalant, as if to say it's just an idea.]

She was just starting to get up when she realized the beautiful singing was not a recording and gasped in surprise. Oh. Not as unoccupied as she had thought it was.
She blushed and got to her feet, tucking her hair behind her ear and sniffling a little.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to- I didn't know anyone was in here."
no subject
Dignity mostly intact he let out a somewhat shaky little laugh and put a hand over his heart as he looked at the 'intruder'.
"It's all right. Are you, though?"
Because she seemed rather upset, to say the least.
Truth be told he wasn't really in the mood to be nice or supportive, but there was a distressed young lady in the room now and he was supposedly not the kidn of guy who would just ignore that.

Boys are dumb.
"I'm fine."
Sniffle. Wipe. Why was he looking at her like she just tried to pounce him from the shadows?
"I didn't mean to interrupt your music." She hadn't even been thinking about it. Sorry, Rob. This one isn't here to marvel at your singing prowess.

Is that what it sounded like? I don't know if I'd quite put it in that category. A translation would be something like this...
My lover I'm lonely tonight and where are you now?
My love I'm lonely tonight can I meet you with the dawn?
Touching is so simple -
which keeps me going over the cloud.
Touching is so simple -
which keeps me going...
Stay here a while longer, stay here close.
Stay with me my love,
I love you.
One little kiss to help me along
on the long journey ahead.
Remember my heart when you're far away,
but please stay till I'm better.
My love I'm lonely tonight and where can I go?
My love I'm lonely tonight - I miss you so my friend...
Stay here a while longer, stay here close.
Stay with me my love,
I love you.
I love you.
I love you.
My love I'm lonely tonight ...

He gave her a look that he tried to make more sympathetic than amused, though it was highly likely that he failed.
"But you are not fine."
no subject
"No offense meant to you, but boys are really dumb sometimes."
no subject
He hadn't seen her around before, so he thought it was a pretty safe bet that she was new. She was looking pretty dolled up as well, so he thought it was a pretty safe bet that she'd just run out of the squiring party for some reason or other.
"Party didn't turn out as planned?"
no subject
"This stupid boy I've been trying to get together with is being such a jerk and it all just... got really out of hand."
no subject
In his experience that sort of thing rarely ended well.
How did this day turn into giving youth love advice?
no subject
She pulls her feet up onto the chair so she can hug her knees. Chai has never had a problem expressing herself to strangers, so she has no problem spilling all this to exhibit B.
"He's not a jerk. He's just acting like one because he's an idiot. I don't get it. I'm pretty sure he likes me and I've tried about twenty ways to get him to realize I like him too and he still acts like I don't want anything to do with him even though I made SURE he knew I did! He's being completely impossible and I just."
Uuuuuuuuuuuugh. She makes a frustrated groan and tugs at her own hair.
Why
no subject
Not that he really cared what she decided to do with herself, but if he was going to give advice he could at least try to actually make it be useful.
no subject
"You seem pretty smart."
For a boy, anyway. Sorry. She's still in that whole boys are dumb ranting mindset.
"Are you one of the knights?"
no subject
He gave her a wry little smile.
"I'm a squire."
Approaching forty and a squire. It just seemed a little funny sometimes when he thought about it.
no subject
She rubs her arms and gives an awkward smile.
"Makes me pretty dumb, I guess, but I really like this guy. I don't know what he's trying to prove, but I don't like to miss out on things in life, and ... I don't know. I just feel like if I could get him to give it a chance we could find a little bit of happy for a while."
She didn't sound like she meant the starry eyed love forever kind of happy, and she didn't. Her daddy might have been all about the fairytale endings, but she just wanted what she could get for however long it lasted. She didn't need forever. Forever was a longer time than she ever liked to consider.
"Sorry. You're not at the party, so I'm gonna go out on a limb and say I really doubt you were wanting to listen to me being an idiot tonight. I really didn't mean to come bother you. I thought the rest of the castle would be pretty empty."
no subject
Robin shrugged a little as he let his smile widen.
"And I reckon a girl like you could find a bit of happy with a whole lot of guys. This one can't be that special."
no subject
Standing by what I said. 'course I tried to walk my boyfriend off the roof, so I'm not an expert.

He only has the manners of a gentleman. ]
Not a romantic, huh?

[ He plays a couple of quiet chords, for no other reason than wanting to. ]
And it is about loneliess, yes. But you could find within it the hope of seeing your beloved again in time.
[ Not that he personally does, which probably came through in his interpretation, but he's playing the devil's advocate a little for the sake of discussion. ]
no subject
[Her nose wrinkles in distaste, even though she sees what he is doing as devil's advocate.] Love is blind and equally as stupid, some people are better off not seeing their "beloved" again. I don't really buy into hope either.
