[ Following a long night after returning from the hospital where Jade finally passed away, there remains a lot to be said and done.

As Burt struggles to deal with the legal side of things, Francesca begins to head that way across the ocean in order to help the Knights do the same, and to help Finnick leave his celebrity life behind somehow. Violet takes the full weight of responsibility for planning the funeral into her hands, and the others continue to try to cope with what's occurred, and slowly put the pieces of information that they have together.

But many of them are still reeling from the revelations of the last few days, or carrying their own emotional burdens. Des continues to keep the truth about Jade's last words to himself as he deals with losing a woman he'd come to love, and faces up to a now uncertain future, thanks to a deal struck with Iscariot. Myri worries deeply about the potential fate of Violet, who's been considering hunting down Keijen Blade on her own, and her concern causes another small rift in her relationship with Finnick. Buffy finally reaches a point of breaking down over her conflicted feelings for Rafael, as Elena assists Archer in completing a giant fireworks bomb for reasons unknown.

This log covers the events leading up to the funeral, which means it will most likely cover a day or two or three. We will use it to make threads for any and all events occurring during this time. ]

Reckon either it will or we'll get used to things how they are and this'll be normal. That's the thing about normal. It's always relative.

Dumage doesn't deserve half of what she gets called. She's not a hooker.

[Spike's fist comes out of nowhere and slams into Des' face (atk 32 dmg 11). Then lets out his own yelp of pain as his chip fires off, grabbing his head and flailing backwards. He glares at Des as he rubs his skull, as though Des is at fault for his migraine. He kind of is.]

Let's go back to talking about you not having any friends.

[Des's head jerks back from the force of the punch, because GOD PEOPLE. STOP HITTING HIM. It takes him a few moments to collect himself and wrinkle his nose a few times to make sure it heals back in place properly.]

Yeah, I get that a lot. [And he is surprisingly not bothered... He's healing. Cut him some slack here.] Didn't realize you were gonna be so touchy about it.

[ arcane lore check 20 ] I'm not sure if this is the case for her, but with Snakeblooded humans and Yuan-ti, usually the more human they appear, the closer they're related to their Snakeblooded relatives.

Besides I ran with their purebloods- they all had weird little tics. She's got nothin'. But I'll tell you one thing- she's having deliveries of fresh meat made to some place in New Orleans, and since I happen to know from experience what Yuan-ti eat, I'd bet she's feeding an army. Literally.

They don't usually eat...people, do they? Alainn - Sir O'Rourke, was telling me about a mission in Japan last year, some kind of freaky underground cult movement encouraging snake bloods to return to their "natural" appetites. Like black market body parts... and worse.

[Myri stared at Mark, skin going paler than usual and even looking a bit green as her stomach turned at the thought. She struggles to keep THAT under control (fort 12) and keeps quiet for now.]

They're clever enough to have adapted to this world by changing their diets to other forms of raw meat here... at least publicly. But it isn't particularly surprising to learn some of them find it... unsatisfactory, especially those who came directly through the veil and have the memories and instincts of their old life.

[ yeah that's really gross, but not surprising. ] I don't know what's more unsettling - what they eat or where they're getting that many bodies.

Which brings us back around to why human supremacists would ever help to... feed cannibalistic yuanti. Particularly why they'd allow them to feast on human fare. Unless it's to dispose of the evidence. Either way, they'd have to be getting something quite advantageous to them in return for such an unholy alliance.

So, we need to figure out what it is that the Mind Master is offering Draken Crombe that would involve Chad Becksworth and his record company's divine talent. And it's valuable enough that he's willing to overlook his bigotry to obtain it.
