The Knights arrive at the scene of the fire several hours after the fact.  It's clearly gutted the building, located in a commercial district of Rome.  Only one fire truck remains, along with several police cruisers and a van marked 'Arson Investigation Unit' in Italian.  The police team seems hard at work combing over the scene.

A small sign in Italian hangs half-legible over the door.  Though the fire is out, the building still smolders, even as water drips from the blackened timbers and stone.

What was that about? [ alanna asks rose as the team escapes earshot of simone. ]

Yeaah... There was an incident in Chicago... Long story short. This face? [Jerking a thumb towards herself.] Chances of them remembering it are pretty good.

Chicago? [ her geography knowledge is 8 cut her some slack. all she knows is that's definitely not where they are. ]

[Kate exhales slowly. Great. That's one face burned - but it's not something they can't handle.]

So you stay in the car. At least when we're dealing with their contacts.

[She looks like she's about to argue but [Roll 11] finally settles for a barely audible groan and borderline dramatic sigh.]

Fine. [A beat, her face suddenly brightening.] So does that mean I get to drive? Ya know, in case you need to get out of there fast.

[ well. alanna would have encouraged rose to stay back at the hotel more than anything else, but she will defer to kate with the knowledge that kate knows this world far better than alanna does, and if she says the car is safe, it likely is. ]

I see no reason you can't, provided you can navigate the city.

Isn't that what GPS is for?

[She won't argue if Alanna insists somebody else take the keys. She has the vague sense that nobody ever lets her behind the wheel of a car.

No. Really. It's canon.]

[Kate's eyebrows climb a bit before nodding.]

Just don't take us on the wrong way down any one way streets.

It's decided, then. [ and off to the car!! ] Best we get going.

Worst case scenario? That's what reverse is for.

[It's possible she was joking at least.]

Works for me. [Not needing to be told twice, Rose heads back the way they came with the others.

Somewhere, Dean Winchester should be feeling his ears burning as a certain Dhampir silently curses him. Apparently, she can blame anything on Boozy. Even the fact that she was too recognizable to the wrong people.]

The Grocer's

[Thanks to Rose's Nav Check of 17, the group manages to end up at the Grocer's and not picking coins out of the Trevi Fountain.

She parks the car several blocks up from the Grocer's just to play it safe, letting it idle as she turns to the rest of the group.]

Shame we don't have Tia. She could have mind-whammied us so I could still check things out. [But anyway.] Try not to have too much fun without me.

[Read: Save the fighting for when Rose is around cause that's the part she likes about being with the Knights. Otherwise, she'll be out here waiting for them to return, or for something to happen.]

[Actually, on the ride here, Bo had an idea. Which is usually code for not entirely smart and/or ethical, but she's probably going to do it anyway.]

How about this? Kate and Alanna, you two go in the front, do some talking, see what you can find out. Rose and I can check for a back entrance, and use your info gathering to do a little bit of the same of a different kind?

[Aka go through their shit. Besides, if anyone sees them she has...things she can do. <.<]

This store pays to the rogues we're after. I don't expect you'll find anything rifling through his office that we won't hear from his mouth. [ alanna pushes open the car door, shrugging as she does. ] But you're welcome to do it. Just know that if goes awry, we can't be connected to either of you, or this mission is lost.

That's if they decide to talk at all.

[Which is debatable. You pay the Mafia and they usually expect you to keep quiet about it.]

Well... I'm Team Bo on this but, that's mostly because anything beats staying in the car.

[Lets be real. She would last five minutes in the car before she did a little solo snooping. Rose Hathaway sucked at sitting still.]

That settles it, then. We're your teammates, not your general. [ aka alanna is here for the adventure and that doesn't always equate responsibility. she forgot the time she learned that lesson. ] We'll meet back here when we're through.

[The grin that spread across Rose's face said it all, the Dhampir shooting Bo a quick, grateful look before reaching to cut the engine and pocket the keys in the process.]

Works for me. [She might be moving somewhat quickly so nobody can change their mind. Teammates they might have been but Rose was used to having to follow orders.

Well okay. She was used to being given orders she was supposed to follow.]

Either of the groups aren't back within the hour, I figure it's safe to assume something went wrong, yeah? [Back up plans were handy.]

[Kate doesn't think this is a bad plan either, so long as no one gets caught. If anything, she and Alanna should be able to keep the grocer distracted. She nods in agreement.]

Sounds good. Be careful.

[It's mostly out of habit, but it's kind of like saying good luck without really saying it.]

[ and with that decided, alanna and kate will head around the front. alanna enters without hesitation, searching out the grocer with a greeting. ] Hello?

TO THE BACK DOOR

[While the other two ladies head inside, Bo and Rose head to the back of the building. Bo moves slowly, taking lead, and looking out for anyone who may be taking some kind of break back here (spot 25).]

[ the back alley is empty, filled with debris here and there, and an overflowing dumpster. graffiti in italian peppers the walls. bo would notice, however, that the back door is very slightly ajar, as if whoever pulled the heavy door behind them hadn't fully latched it. ]

[ as kate and alanna walk into the grocery store, they'd notice a tall, thin man in a pinstripe suit casually picking up boxes of groceries on the top shelf of the short stack straight across from them, and setting them back down, not really taking anything. his eyes slide over towards them, and then flick towards a door that says "EMPLOYEES ONLY". the only employee in sight, however, is a young, dark haired boy sweeping the floor in front of the frozen food cases. he glances up at the greeting, halting his sweeping, and says nervously: ] Can I ... can I help you?

[Rose's spot 26 probably has her noticing the same sort of things that Bo currently is, her eyebrow raising as her eyes settle on the open door, exchanging a silent look as she lifted her shoulder in a shrug.

Sure, it was a little too easy but it beat the hell out of a fight before they even had a chance to break in.

She motions to the door, hinting she plans to head on in if Bo's down.]
