Those people were suffering under Sarandis's rule. They were forced to live in squalor, given minimal rights and some of them were even experimented on to the point where they were subjected to mind control, because they were Shadowkind. They were different, and to Sarandis that made them ... disposable. It's true that we could have said it was "their" business, and just turned a blind eye and pretended that nothing was happening to them the way the rest of the world seemed to, but that doesn't solve the problem. That doesn't stop the evil. And just because you didn't participate in it doesn't absolve you from the blood on your hands for ignoring it.

In fact, in my experience, all that really makes you is a coward. Because you can condemn people for the evil deeds they do, but words only mean so much. If you don't act then you're not really saying no. What you're actually saying that it's okay, so long as it doesn't happen where I can see it.
