WHO || Wynn, any and all Knights not currently on missions (if you are uncertain if your character would be at the castle for this, ask!)ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.
WHAT || Squiring Ceremony Afterparty
WHERE || Knights Headquarters, the Ballroom
WHEN || March 1st, 2015, 6:00PM [backdated]
HOW || Prose OR Actionspam
The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).
The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.
Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.
Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

Welcome to the knighthood, lass.
so much link
[One thing she has to say for this place-- people have been friendly enough, at least so far. Helps with the whole 'stranger in a strange land' angle, though it's been a much easier adjustment than her previous trip would have been, had it lasted much longer. She smiles, lifting her own glass in reply.]
How long have you been with the organization?
ALL the link
He smiles and offers her a hand.]
Killian Jones.

[Longer than she's been doing the Witness gig, she'll note, which helps put things in perspective-- she already feels like she's been doing that a lifetime, the way she's been forced to adapt to it being a part of her day-to-day life.]
I know there are. One of those good people pointed me here in the first place-- and I don't think I would have joined if I didn't feel like I'd find more here like her.
[Even in a place where her badge doesn't mean much of anything, she still has a pretty firm code she sticks to. She smiles, taking his hand and giving it a shake.]
Lieutenant Abigail Mills. Abbie's fine.

What are you Lieutenant of, if I may ask?
no subject
[Looks like they have a little something in common, even if she'll later find that it's not the same kind of lieutenant.]
Well, congratulations on the promotion. Police force for me. Proud member of the Sleepy Hollow sheriff's department.

It was the last rank I held before I left the service of the King's Navy. I was much happier as Captain of my own less reputable ship.
[And all it cost him was his brother's life.]

[That gets a raised eyebrow-- the idea of a naval captain of ill repute brings certain stories to mind, if her guess isn't way off the mark. In this place, it was possible, wasn't it? Pirates weren't exactly fiction back home, either, but people didn't spend a lot of time thinking about them, and seemed to prefer the romanticized fairy-tale or Hollywood blockbuster versions.]
That make you a pirate?

[They're not always villains-- some are antiheroes at their very worst.]
So how does an ex-pirate feel about being landlocked?
no subject
[He shrugs a shoulder.]
I'm not landlocked. My ship's still in the harbor, and I still sail her. I just... have somewhere to come back to.
[And perhaps, more importantly, someone.]

[Cops are supposed to be good, and yet a hell of a lot more than one of them has managed to spit in the face of that preconception-- both within her own department and elsewhere.]
It still sees use?
[She raises an eyebrow. That's interesting-- good for him.]
I'm sure having a port to call home took some getting used to. Or were you feeling ready to put down some roots?

[And yet--]
Mind if I ask what inspired the change? Seems like it would be a pretty dramatic one.

But they do say this is a world of second chances. Perhaps I saw my chance to have one.

[He has the right to his privacy, just like she has the right to hers. She's not going to begrudge him that.]
I'd say that's as good a reason as any. Better than most, in fact. Good for you.

[Which is to say she's learned to deal with bending the law a little for the greater good-- though she won't if she doesn't have to, she's able to do what's necessary.]
Not my first experience with magic and monsters. After coming through the veil and learning about this place-- once I got here, seemed like where I ought to be until everything else gets sorted out.
[If it ever does.]

[It's interesting, to think there might be someone else she can related to on that. Back home, she has something of a support system, but at the end of the day, only Crane really understands what it's like to be in her shoes, because they've been called to do the same thing. All they've really got is each other.]
I might have to ask you to introduce us sometime. When it's convenient, anyway.
no subject
When it's convenient, aye. In the meantime, look for the blond lass in the red leather jacket. That's Emma Swan.

[Something about it sticks with you. Good ring to it.]
I have a friend you might get along with real well, too, although he didn't end up following me here.

[She smiles knowingly. That's a pirate of sorts, isn't it? He even lives on a boat.]
I'm not sure I would say devilishly handsome, but charming enough, for better or for worse, and his intentions are good. Heart's in the right place.
no subject
Well the way things are around here, you never know. He may end up following you here. Enough people I know have that I wouldn't rule it out.
