The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[After the clusterfuck that was the ceremony, Ashley pulls herself together pretty damn well when all is said and done (disguise 19). No, she's not in a dress, but good luck catching her in one pretty much ever anyway.

She has a drink or two while she makes small talk and hopefully doesn't stick her foot in her mouth. Too much, anyway.]

[There's only one person at this party that Helen has any interest in finding. But once she does, she can't think of a single thing to say. She just stops a few feet in front of her daughter, as if she's not certain if she can trust her own eyes.]

[Malina will wait until Helen and Ashley talk before she makes her approach, lingering off in one of the corners, probably with Gus, while she tries to make sense of the situation. The Veil is incredibly complicated, something that they have a hard time trying to understand, but from what they know about it, things like this, like dead daughters slipping through the cracks, shouldn't be possible. Not with how long Helen has been in this world.

That being said, she's a new knight and she's Helen's daughter, and she would be remiss if she didn't at least make her way over to say hello. So she approaches with a smile, and holds out her hand to offer more of an introduction than she usually does.]

[ it's her squire's party (and other people too, she supposes, but whatever), so lila takes care to look insanely banging, silver blonde curls perfectly coiffed, dress cut specifically to show off the resurrection diamond nestled in her cleavage. as always, she has her vodka and she's not afraid to spend the evening shooting the shit. she loves parties. ]

[When Shawn emerges from the dressing room he at least manages to blend in with the crowd which is really the best that anyone could have hoped for, given his usual fashion choices (disguise 11). After his performance at the ceremony, however, there's probably no way he can't stand out, but Shawn also ... doesn't actually care. Making a fool of himself is how he's managed to get through the last thirty years of his life, and he's never particularly cared what anyone else thought.

So basically he's going to make a beeline for the snacks (because snacks), and then proceed to make his way around the room to talk to whoever stands still long enough. As always, the narration apologizes in advance.]

[Helen's still shaken by her daughter's presence here in the castle. It's hard not to wonder if it's some trick. She's hardly heard of the Veil bringing someone back from the dead, after all. Memory loss is one thing. This is...something else entirely. But when she's not glued to Ashley's side, she's trying not to look too... off. She doesn't want to ruin the party for anyone by making a fuss.

Maybe a drink would help. Maybe she'll do that.]

[Malina is looking subdued for Malina (disguise 12), and she's also hard to pin down to any particular place at any given time. More often than not, she's bouncing from the bar to one social group or another, particularly ones featuring Helen or Gus, given the givens.

However, if you happen to catch her attention, she'll happily come to a stop to chat. She's distracted, but she's not antisocial.]

[Cora completely forgot that the squiring party was a thing tonight, and it's evident in how she's dressed (disguise 2). She didn't have a squire or a friend being squired or anything else in the same vein happening tonight so she just forgot and didn't realize her error until she decided to cut through the ballroom as a shortcut and ... well, party.

Whoops.

She doesn't intend on staying long because she at least has that much respect for decorum, but she as she sneakily tries to cut through the ballroom on her way out the opposite door (move silently 16), she will inevitably get distracted for one reason or another. Feel free to be one of those distractions! And be be grateful she doesn't have her puppy with her or she would be feeding him treats from the snack table under the table.]

[ Henry got semi-dressed up for the party. He's not really looking for anyone in particular, but as he makes his way through the crowd and spots a familiar face (okay, he's pretty pleased to see Cora), he smiles to himself and carefully makes his way towards her. ]

[ Given how she's dressed, he's pretty sure she didn't mean to be here, so...yeah, he's teasing a little. With a smile. ]

[Glad to be out of the armor for the time being, Abbie is quick to change when they get the opportunity. Skirts aren't usually her thing, despite having worn them for work events in the past, and she opts for a suit instead (Disguise 14). While she wouldn't exactly call herself shy, it's a whole lot of people in a setting she's still getting used to, so for the moment, she's reserved, helping herself to a drink as she skims the crowd for any familiar faces-- including her mentor.

Knighthood is going to be an adjustment, but she's incredibly grateful not to be the only new recruit. The whole thing reminds her of her first few weeks on the force-- everyone watching your every move while you're not quite sure what to do.]

[ Here comes Alec (with a Disguise of 21 and 24 for women). He's got a swagger, but it's rare that Alec doesn't have a swagger. It's also rare he doesn't have alcohol on hand. It helps when he has to come to these things. He's appreciating the new talent though.

He slides up along side her and with a smile he clears his throat. ]

[Last time she was at one of these - Thea helpfully suggested she look for something more appropriate in the large "community" closet. Never one to turn down what the "environment" provides, she's making good use of the 19 I rolled for her. Malia's dress definitely is an upgrade from the shorts and top she wore last time. However, clothing does not always make the girl and she still feels slightly out of place here.

At least this squiring has more than one person being welcomed to the knighthood. She's going to be mingling around and mostly observing others.]

He may be a little more troubled than outward appearances would have anyone believe, but he's still got a friendly smile for anyone who approaches. ]

[ Leia looks terrible, apparently (disguise 2), so we're going to assume she's having a really bad day, had no idea the squiring party was today, and has wandered into the room by accident. The only reason she hasn't immediately fled the room is it would be noticeable, and impolite. She wouldn't normally be in public like this on purpose, not someone so used to displaying more decorum, but she'll make the best of it for a little while if anyone engages her. ]

[Sweets actually looks pretty good (disguise 17). He also notices how out of place Leia looks and figures that it must have slipped her mind. That being said, he'll grab one of the champagne glasses floating around and make his way over to offer it to her.]

[ it's another squiring party, same as all the rest, and francesca's not particularly interested in being here, but she also realizes if she keeps herself holed up in her room watching under the tuscan sun and listening to coldplay on repeat much longer she might literally lose her mind. so here she is, keeping up appearances, and looking just as stunningly gorgeous as ever (disguise 38 46). she lingers just outside the crowd, a much needed glass of wine at hand, and her gaze sweeps across the room of faces, her fingers idly toying with the delicate fabric of her dress, as she noticeably searches for something (or someone) in particular. ]
