The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

Werecoyote? Cora, I've always been meaning to ask. [ she sets down her plate to creep closer and put a hand on cora's shoulder, leaning in conspiratorially. ] Is there such a thing... as a werepenguin?

[Cora will totally lean in to match that conspiratorial atmosphere, before shaking her head.]

No idea. But apparently weresharks are a thing, so anything is possible.

I knew it. That adorable little fucker is a werepenguin. No wonder he looks so good in a tuxedo.

So, anyway, how's that? Being a mentor, mentoring, mentory stuff. Things.

It's ... weird.

[She pauses for a moment as she tries to figure it out.]

She's my age, you know? So it doesn't really feel like I know much more than she does, aside from the obvious.

[graveflowers]

I'm not sure you need to know more. It's not... knowledge, it's experience. You know how missions work, you know about werepoodle stuff around the castle, those are the things she needs to learn from you. I mean, no matter what you tell her, her first mission is going to be nutso because it's her first mission -- as long as you're able to teach her to roll with the punches, I'm sure she'll be fine.

[She nods slowly, before smirking slightly.]

She's from Beacon Hills. She probably has that down already.

[But they can work on it some more. She wants to help her, even if she doesn't really know how, but at least she can start with helping her control her shift.]

See? Half the work's done for you. You'll be fine, kiddo.

[impetere]

[She nods, and there's still some second guessing to go around, but she feels like she can at least handle the basics.]

I've just never really been that good with people.

[A beat.]

Or girls my own age.

[Different priorities, all that jazz. She doesn't want to do the wrong thing and end up with Malia hating her.]

Oh yeah. I was like that. [ tbf she still doesn't hang out with girl's her own age; elena, myri, and kat are all younger than her. but they're girls, which is the important part really. ]

Just be yourself and you'll end up collecting good people for friends, regardless of gender.

[impetere]

[Cora isn't sure that "herself" is such a prize, but that's a long determined side effect from having been on her own for so long and cutting herself off from other people. Henry and Abigail seem to like her, among her other friends, so that at least must be worth something.]

[Which isn't much of a response but it's a response all the same.]

Just let the knowledge of my wise old age wash over you.

[She smirks at that before nodding.]

I would be a fool not to.

Good. I'm glad we agree on that. [ she gives a little smile. ] Now go be a teenage girl. Shoo.

[She huffs a small laugh at that before nodding.]
