after-party ♔ march

Jeux d'eau - Ravel

WHO || Wynn, any and all Knights not currently on missions (if you are uncertain if your character would be at the castle for this, ask!)
WHAT || Squiring Ceremony Afterparty
WHERE || Knights Headquarters, the Ballroom
WHEN || March 1st, 2015, 6:00PM [backdated]
HOW || Prose OR Actionspam

The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

An excellent attitude to have. [She takes another drink, nearly finishing the flute.]

I'm glad to hear it. [She seems distracted, glancing out at the main party floor every few moments.]
littledhampir: ♫ I know you've got the mental age of ten. (That was the dumbest thing I ever heard.)

[Rose might have been generally oblivious but the last time Helen knocked back drinks as quickly as Dean, she'd made out with a man Rose knew was now married to a man (and was possibly in love with another man?! JS) and she and Rose had gotten lost trying to find her room, the two ending up on the floor of the throne room of Andres Palace while Rose tried to sober her up with water. All things that may in fact be running through Rose's mind as Helen polishes off that flute of champagne.]

So... [Eyes narrowing infinitesimally.] Instead of this being a thing where... I ask you what's up and you tell me everything is fine can we maybe, skip to the part where you just tell me what's on your mind? [Offering her a half grin that barely covers the hint of worry in her eyes.]</snakk<

[Helen's will save was atrocious so she's not going to be able to play it cool. She finishes her drink and takes a breath.]

I take it you haven't met our newest squires? [She turns and gestures to where Ashley is standing across the way.] That one there? Her name is Ashley.

Ashley Magnus.
littledhampir: ♫ Take me to that other place (So how does that work?)

[Rose's vacant eyes should be enough of an answer, Rose not immediately making any connections.

Helen had spoken of Ashley with her but never by name, Rose now staring at the blonde in question without a flicker of recognition, eyes darting between the two women as if waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Even hearing her name leaves her with confusion etched across her features, Rose making one connection but not the leap that was staring her, quite literally in the face. (Wis 5 lol bless).]

That's your last-name... [No shit, Rose]

[Helen can see that Rose isn't quite getting it. It's almost endearing, in it's own way, but Helen is aware that there might be some tension once it all comes clear.]

Yes. [She says and takes a breath.] Yes, it is. That's because she's my-

[There's still some lingering doubt for Helen, concern that it's a trick somehow. Ashley is dead. Or was? All the wants is for this to be true, but there's a part of her that fears getting comfortable with the idea. Afraid that the rug will be ripped out from under her.]

My daughter.
littledhampir: ♫ I said I'd never let you go and I never did. (Where do I go from here?)

[personal profile] littledhampir 2015-04-27 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[Rose’s face falls, though it’s not distressed in any way. More a blank mask as those two words echo in her head. Daughter. My, daughter. Not like a daughter but Helen’s own flesh and blood, the very daughter that Helen thought was dead. Here. In the castle.]

You’re… [She blinks a few times, still trying to process what she’d just said, not yet considering what that could mean; to Helen, to Ashley, even to herself.]

She’s… I mean, she’s alive?

Evidently. [She lets her eyes drift back to her daughter in the crowd.] She has no recollection of what happened. I'm not sure how it's possible. I've never heard of the Veil doing such a thing- bringing someone back from the dead...

[But for how wary she is as to how Ashley is here, it's clear that she's still glad for it.]
littledhampir: ♫ Uncertainty can be a guiding light. (Nothing clever to say here.)

[personal profile] littledhampir 2015-05-03 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
If it can bring peoples doubles here... [She supposes that bringing people back from the dead isn't that much of a reach.]

But I mean, it's good, right? [Her smile just a touch too bright as she pushes it onto her lips.] Like you said there are all these things you thought you'd never get a chance to do and now, you can.

[Those words perhaps, a little more for her own benefit than they were for Helen's.]

Of course. I'm thrilled to see her. It's just...a bit of a shock. [And one she's not handling all that well. Normally put together, Helen is finding her thoughts too scattered, the subject too emotional for her to think clearly.]
