The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[It's been a while since she's been to a squiring party, so she figures she should knock it out of the park. With a disguise check total of 20, she looks pretty damn good. She's also enjoying some alcohol so if she gets flirty with anyone, just roll with it.]

[Looks like both of the Weiss siblings decided to crawl out of the woodwork for the new squire shindig, even if only one of them put any sort of effort into their appearance this evening (disguise 10, I guess he's just rolling up in his everyday wear yolo).]

Don't tell me they actually gave you a squire of your very own. [Who else would she be trying to impress? I guess that's Adam speak for you look bangin, girl. No homo incest.]

[She holds onto her glass and smirks at her brother.]

No squire for me. I'm not sure how long I'm going to stay. [Look, she isn't saying she's going to bail -- but she doesn't even live in the castle these days. She just drops by to check in on events.]

Got it. [He nods his head as if to say yep, it all makes sense now.]

Slumming for guys, huh? [Casually calls a bitch out nbd. Maybe he missed her a little.]

[Such love.]

Wow, you must really think highly of your peers. [She glances around the room.] I thought these events were meant to be a big deal. I haven't had to attend one in a while, I went with what felt familiar.

Also, I can slum for anyone I want. [Maybe she'll go flirt with Helen. WHO KNOWS.]

You make it sound like you have someone in particular in mind. [Meanwhile, the look on his face is asking whether this might be a potential overshare he needs to prepare himself for.]

No. [Her brow furrows, shaking her head.]

No one in particular. I don't even recognize half of these people.

[Probably because she wasn't ever really around, which he didn't really mind at first but hey he came over to talk to her didn't he?]

You aren't missing out on much. [He's just keeping it 110% real ok, he doesn't think highly of very many people--even if they were supposed to be his comrades or whatever.]

[She'll finish her current drink and look to Adam.]

Want to go get a drink? [If her prospects are really that lousy, she might as well keep drinking.]

[She rolls her eyes at him and reaches to tiny pinch him. Hard.] Shut it.

I'm not looking for you to wingman for me. I'm just looking for a drink.

Owww--jeez! Fine. [Her loss--he's like the best at it. He's rubbing where she pinched him though, because that shit actually hurt.]

[Of course it hurt. She's his sister. She knows how much of a marshmallow he can be.]

So what've you been up to?

[Kate is a little nervous and she may be settling those nerves with booze, but at least she looks good while she does it (disguise 18). It's her first squire as well as the first knight that she brought in herself, and while she doesn't doubt that Abbie has a lot to bring to the organization, she's now her responsibility, and she wants to be a good mentor, if nothing else.

She makes her way to the bar to get herself her first drink, before she glances over and eyes her dress with a smile.]

I love the dress.

[kineticist]

[Zoe smiles and gives Kate's dress the once-over.]

Thanks. I haven't been to one of these in a while. I like your dress, too. [Because, come on, she's got some legs.]

[killmypatience]

[Yep, she certainly does. She smiles in return at the compliment before nodding.]

Thank you. Have you been out of the castle for a while? I've heard there can be some pretty long term missions.

[kineticist]

[She shakes her head.] Yes and no. I've been mostly on call for the past few years. Living in the area, but not really considered on active duty.

[She turns to face her a bit more.] My brother -- he was recruited and I opted to keep my distance. He didn't know about my affiliation and I didn't want him to think that him being brought in had anything to do with me.

[killmypatience]

[She nods as she considers that for a moment.]

You wanted to give him some space to do his own thing. Nothing wrong with that.

[kineticist]

We never really saw eye to eye. I think he's fine with it now, but I know it's still not the most honest thing a family member can do.

[She smiles.] I'm Zoe Weiss -- Adam's sister.

[killmypatience]

[They haven't talked in a while, but Kate remembers Adam (wisdom 19). She smiles in return.]

Kate Beckett. And yeah, I remember Adam. We talked a few times, when he first joined up.

[kineticist]

I'll apologize for whatever he might have said. [She smirks.]

Just the blanket sister-apology.

[She laughs, before shaking her head.]

No, he was fine. I've heard far, far worse out of the bail jumpers I used to track down before I joined here.

[kineticist]

Bail jumpers? That sounds exciting.

[killmypatience]

It definitely wasn't boring.

[And it had a bit of a challenge to it, which she liked.]

I learned that tracking people down was one of my talents.

A talent that comes in handy here - I'm sure.

[Zoe cants her head and looks over at a bottle on the bar behind them. With a bit of concentration she uses Far Hand to move the bottle from behind the bar to right in front of them.]

My talents aren't boring, either, but I don't actually use them that often.
