The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[ He was debating bowing out of this after party, as much as he likes meeting people and helping the new recruits adjust, if he can. But he's here, dressed up nicely (disguise 14), and mostly hanging around the snacks in between mingling. He may be a little more troubled than outward appearances would have anyone believe, but he's still got a friendly smile for anyone who approaches. ]

[David has finally managed to figure out the whole dressing up thing (disguise 17). He even managed to put this together all on his own! Finally. After ... three years.

That being said, he still tends to wallflower more often than not and right now is no exception. He glances over, studying him for a moment before deciding to see what was wrong (sense motive 19).]

[ He's actually kind of glad for the company, so when he hears someone talking to him, Henry looks over with a little smile. Though he's not about to blurt out his problems right away, he's also not going to keep it bottled up. ] Sort of. Not necessarily to talk, but to...not talk, if that makes sense.

[ Not to...straight up avoid, but just to prepare himself for conversation, if he happens to see his mom. Either of them, really. ]

[His eyebrow raises slightly because he's not entirely sure he does (wisdom 9). Interpersonal issues are not really his strong suit.]

Sort of. Both my moms are knights. [ It's weird, he knows, especially because his entire family remembers him being 13 years old. Of course, he doesn't think to mention his mothers aren't...together. ] One of them has no memory of me at all anymore and the other mom isn't really...happy about her being here. Do you know Emma Swan or Regina Mills?

[David nods at the first name, not to the second.]

Emma and I were on a mission together a couple years back. It seems like there are a good chunk of people here from your world.

There are, which is mostly a good thing. I'm glad they're here, it's just hard when the Veil screws up their memories the way it does. I think I got kind of lucky, and at least my dad mostly remembers everything.

[ He can't complain too much. ]

I can't really say I have that problem. I haven't run into anyone from home here.

How long have you been here?

[ He gets the sense it's been a while. ]

[He pauses for a moment, thinking back for a moment to try and figure it out.]

I think it'll be three years, next month.

Do you...remember much from home? The Veil, it's so weird what it takes and what it lets us keep.

[ He's grateful his dad seems to have his memory mostly intact. ]

[He nods.]

I remember most of where I was from, but I can't remember the people I was with. I know they were there, but names or faces are just ... not there.

[ As curious as he is, he wonders sometimes if asking about the memories people still have or lost will do more harm than good. Some people wanna talk, others don't. ]

Sorry. Not really the happiest topic of conversation.

I came through the Veil a few years ago, I never thought I'd see my family again. Maybe...maybe people you know, they'll come here too, and they'll remember you. [ It's not perfect, but he likes to try finding the good in things if he can. ]

[ kali looks like a disco ball (disguise 16). which means it's only fitting that she flutters up to henry, curtsies, and gives him a big smile. ]

[ look! manners! she's learning! ]

[ She looks great, in his mind, and he smiles back widely when he sees her. She's perfect company right now. ]

Hey, Kali. Yeah, I'd love that.

You're getting good at this, by the way.

[ The manners. He holds his hand out to her. ]

Thanks. [ her smile turns a little soft, pleased with henry's compliment, and she takes his hand without hesitation moving out to the dance floor and putting her other hand on his shoulder. she's like... a really good dancer, fyi. all that feline liquid cat grace. (dance 22) ]

[ He feels pretty lucky actually, considering he's never really danced with anyone, and someone he thinks is pretty awesome wanted to dance with him. Having not been sure he'd even come to the party, it's turning out pretty alright now. There's a big smile on his face as they dance, and he's better at it than he thought he would be (perform dance 18). Every now and then he glances around the room, just a quick look, before smiling back at her. ]

Who are you looking for? [ she assumes he's looking for someone, a sweep around the room like that. ]

Some family. And...a friend. [ Ok, so he's really just hoping to avoid his moms at the moment. And he's a little eager to see Cora. Maybe. ]

[ She seems like the safest person to seek out right about now. ]

Yes! [ and her spot was like a million (or 36, w/e) so she easily picks the puppy out of the crowd. ] She's helping me learn that cats and dogs can get along.
