The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

I don't know. There was a big rush before and after the whole Andres thing and then there weren't any for a while. [ and then there was malia. ] I don't normally go to the parties.

Are you not a fan of the parties?

Not really. I'm bad at talking to people.

Me too. I -- I haven't had much experience with casual conversation.

Yeah? [ she's curious, but doesn't want to really prod in case it somehow comes back to port haven. ]

I had a very isolated childhood. [She figures that... makes sense. She's trying to be less open about the whole "I was a coyote" thing.]

Me too. I was an only child and we lived out of the city... [ yep, that's clearly it. ]

[animalistic]

I spent a lot of my childhood in the woods. I didn't have many friends my own age. [Or you know... species.]

[theminotaur]

[ ditto, yo. minus the species part... ] I just had one. But she was murdered.

Murdered? That sounds exciting. I mean, if it was just awful you probably would have said she died, but murdered has a story behind it.

Yeah, that she was murdered. [ that's the story. that's why she said murdered... ]

Oh. That was anticlimactic.

Did they catch whoever did it?

[theminotaur]

No, they won't. I think murder is climactic enough.

[animalistic]

I guess. [There are a lot of different ways to murder. She was just curious.]

Why won't they catch who did it?

[theminotaur]

They haven't caught him for like twenty years, he's really good.

[animalistic]

[See? She really thinks there's more to this story. Twenty years is a STORY.]

Oh. He must be very good at murder.

[ she's slowly relenting. the juxtaposition of her still present grief over marissa and the word "exciting" threw her for a loop, but she can tell malia doesn't mean it badly. ]

He doesn't leave evidence. 'cause he eats it. He left Marissa because he made it look like a copycat of a different serial killer. [ the only thing she appreciates. he didn't make her best friend a pillow. feels weird, having gratitude toward hannibal, but she feels a lot of weird shit about him. ]

[Malia immediatley wonders if this killer is secretly a werewolf - or werecoyote. It would make sense.]

I didn't realize that was a good way to avoid criminal charges. I'm sorry that happened to your friend.

[ she shrugs. ] Thanks.

I made this awkward... I should go. [Because Malia NOW realizes that talking about her dead friend might be the same as her being asked about her own family...]

It's okay. [ she's trying to be reassuring, but she's also not going to stop malia if she wants to leave. ]

[animalistic]

[She nods, but really -- she's just going to back away.]

Okay... but I'm still going to go.
