The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Those things are not the separate entities that Abigail is implying they are but the narration will roll with it, just for the sake of gossip. Cora's head ducks a little more before she glances back to her with a pleading look, before pulling her out and away from the rest of the party.]

[ she goes along easily, but it's not like it's hard for cora to convince her of anything. ]

And..? [ she's not even one to talk since it took her and stiles upwards of five months to bring up the dating thing. which happened accidentally. ]

[Cora pauses for a moment, trying to figure out the words because she hasn't really had a lot of practice with them.]

I ... I don't know. He's really nice.

[theminotaur]

[ abigail is about to say, leading, "so is stiles", but then she remembers he can be kind of an asshole. (but she likes that about him.) whoops. ]

Nice is good. You deserve to be around nice people. So maybe not me, but... [ she trails off with a shrug. gossip was always more marissa's thing, so abigail is trying to be cora's marissa but it's more difficult than she realized. ]

[Cora gives her a look at that because Abigail isn't the monster she makes herself out to be, at least not to Cora. In fact, Cora is just grateful that she has someone who gets her as much as she does.]

I don't know what I'd do with nice people all the time. That's not how the world works.

[theminotaur]

But you do want to be around him all the time...

[She twists slightly, wrinkling her nose a bit as she nods. If it were anyone but Abigail, she'd deny it but there is very little she doesn't tell Abigail. Benefits of being besties.]

But I've never really done this before.

[theminotaur]

[ she shrugs, a little helpless. ]

Well, neither have I and I'm not doing so badly. [ ??? maybe ??? ]

[She glances over before shaking her head.]

No, you're not.

[That's almost emphatic because from what she can see, she and Stiles are good. And while they're a trio of awkward teenagers that may not have much experience, she doesn't know as much about Henry.]

I just ... I'm not sure if I should go with my instincts, you know?

Unless your instincts are to murder people, I'm pretty sure you're always supposed to go with your gut instinct.

[ which is why abigail does not always go with her first instinct. ]

[That's actually a bit of a gray area for a werewolf, because sometimes their instincts are to kill, but she feels like in this instance, her first instinct is not to murder Henry.]

Got it. Go with my gut.

[theminotaur]

You'll be fine. [ she reaches out to take her friend's hand and squeeze it gently. ] He obviously likes you, too.

[Cora squeezes her hand in return, her head ducking slightly as she nods.]

Yeah, he does.

[She has no idea why.]

[theminotaur]

Wanna grab some food and go back to my room?

[impetere]

[There's a pause as she glances back to the door, before turning back to Abigail with an apologetic smile.]

Actually, Henry and I were going to go watch a movie. I was just on my way to get the popcorn. I can come by after, though?

[Hanging out with Abigail would be easier, by far, but she already told Henry she would, and she would also invite Abigail along, but she's supposed to be following her gut. Following her gut doesn't involve bringing a third wheel.]

[theminotaur]

[ abigail doesn't seem to mind, biting back a small smile. that's okay with her, she can steal stiles for the evening. ]

Sure. Jurassic Park is in my room if you want to borrow it, too. [ she doesn't mind if cora stops there on the way tbh. ]

[Cora nods.]

Sure. I'll see what he wants to watch after I take the popcorn upstairs.

Okay. Have fun. [ she flashes cora a smile and ducks away to find stiles so she doesn't keep waylaying her friend. ]
