Unlike the grandiose nature of the squiring ceremony each Knight undergoes upon their initial entrance into the Knighthood, the graduation to Full Knight status takes place in a much more intimate affair, between the Knight, their mentor, invited friends, and the members of the sect to which they will be inducted. There's no pompous music, no stolid rank and file, no elaborate march.

The Knight's new section head, Wynn, and their mentor Knight wait up at the front of the room for their approach, but the attitude of the ceremony is much more relaxed, full of smiles and light conversation on all sides. Of course, when Wynn speaks, people still hush. It's just how he rolls.

Yeah, just a little. Wait until they start trying to one-up each other with the war stories.

Yeah? Well can't say I have any of those, mate. Apart from Andres, I suppose. That's one, right? One for the list.

Definitely. And you had to have been on missions before this, right? There have to be some stories there.

I went to New York to get a creepy fucker of a doll from a toy shop. I'm not sure that qualifies as heroics.

[David makes a face at that.]

Maybe that's just the start of it? You'll have better stories for the next one?

Yeah well that's the idea I suppose. Hopefully stories with a happy ending. I'm a sucker for those. Don't go telling anyone though.

Yeah? [ That makes him smile a bit. ]

Well suppose we can work to that together then, eh? Happy ever after and all that.

Like a fucking disney movie. Bunnies dancing around and shit like that?

Maybe we'll even occasionally burst into song.

Well, we'd need instruments for that.

I'm sure some of the nerds could cook us up something. A folding violin or a wrap up keyboard. That sort of thing.

If you want to ask them, I'm sure they'd be more than happy to try.

Maybe I'll ask Andrew. Give him something to do other than worry about babies.

[David ... blinks for a moment at that, but then again the only new baby he knows around is Lucia.]

As far as I know there's just the one. Is he worried we're getting invaded?
