[ winter loves love so valentine's day is pretty much where it's at for her and she has a pep in her step as she strolls down the hall, only to find deryn looking rather confused at a young couple kissing, a bundle of flowers clutched in one of the girl's hands.

winter only caught him looking because she was looking. ] Bon dia. Hi. I feel the same way honestly, roses are so over done. Tsk. [ she's teasing and glances over at deryn with a smile. ] No Valentine for you?

[theshadowspeaks]

[ He blinked just a bit at the first words she spoke, it felt almost like something he could understand, having learned Norwegian before English he almost understood it.] Hello. [ He responded, before shaking his head some.] No, no roses are lovely, though sunflowers are happier. I'm just confused isn't this something people do behind closed doors?

[ He was so very sheltered.] What is Valentine?

[hivern]

Public displays of affection. [ she nods toward that pda happening rn. ] Valentine was a priest, hundreds of years ago, I believe, who presided over weddings even though it was illegal. Now, of course, we celebrate his life by celebrating love.

[theshadowspeaks]

[ He nodded, making the feathers in his hair shake a bit.] So, basically people do public displays of affection to celebrate a criminal doing marriages? [ After a second he finally grinned, his eyes lighting up.] That's so cool.

I think it's charming, myself, [ winter agrees with another easy grin. ]

[theshadowspeaks]

[ He nodded.] I wish I had heard of this holiday before.

[ he turned offering over a hand, he was wearing fingerless gloves.] By the way, I'm Deryn.

[hivern]

You have time to catch up. [ her smile warms as she takes his hand. ] I'm Winter.

I will be prepared next year at least. [ He shook her hand before letting go. (str 5) ] It's nice to meet you Winter. [ He smiled a bit more.] It's my favorite season.

[hivern]

Really? Not many people say that. It's not even my favorite season, I love summer.

[theshadowspeaks]

I like snow, I think its pretty. Summer can also be beautiful but I just isn't the same for me. Have you been here a long time?

[hivern]

Depends on your definition of long. [ she shrugs with an easy smile. ] I've been a knight for... four years? But I've been in France for a while.

[theshadowspeaks]

That's longer than I've been in this world, so yes. I suppose I would view that as long. [ He replied with a nod of his head.] Is France as pretty as the movies make it out to be?

Yes! It is. Especially at night, when the city is all lit up.

[theshadowspeaks]

It's one of those things I really hope to see. [ he admitted with a smile.]

You could always go on holiday.
