Since the end of March, there have been forty-four more murders that have been identified as fitting the MO attributed to the case the Knights have been investigating. At least 12 other murders have been similar, and potentially connected, and yet no pattern has emerged between victims, no evidence has been discovered at crime scenes that might give them a real clue of where to investigate, and every lead they've followed has led them to a dead end.

Those interrogated seem terrified to discuss the subject, as if they'd rather die than face the consequences of spilling the truth. There's something unsettling about the way in which several of those held in custody for questioning about the incidents have committed suicide in their cells, or begged the police to kill them, rather than release them, even if they hadn't said a single word of use to the Knights or officials.

It's Lis'sa who announces she thinks she has something worth investigating, calling everyone together in the common room to meet, without slipping a word of what she's been doing with her nights to any of them beforehand.

[Well, here's Haymitch. Who is raiding the minibar, because in my plan, the common room has a minibar. A Japanese minibar. Haymitch has never had sake, but the tiny bowls you put it in kinda suck, even if the booze doesn't.] Finally getting somewhere, are we?

[ Dovan's frowning at the sake, because it just does not fulfill all his dwarven needs. ] 'Bout time. Maybe now we'll know who to fight 'stead of wasting all our time running round in circles!

[Alainn sits somewhere between Dovan and Haymitch, Fede resting on her knees as she preens herself quietly. She grins at Dovan, a tiny chuckle coming from between her lips.]

I dunno if we're gonna be fighting anytime soon, but it sure would be nice to stretch me legs.

I can't claim that this find is good news, but it gives us something to work with, yes.

There's an organization of yuan-ti operating within this city: snake bloods that I have reason to believe might be connected to these murders.

And I suppose we're to infiltrate their lair? [And down goes the shot with a bit of a cringe.] Get the information, don't kill them unless we have to. On the right track, yeah?

That's assuming we have information on where their lair is.

Still, it's a lead. And there has to be some way to racially profile for yuan-ti, surely.

Plenty of ways. Particularly for someone they might consider one of their own.

Could we fake it? I do quite enjoy playing dress-up.

So you've convinced them then, that you're "one of their own?" What've you found out?

There are certain benefits to my bloodline. All I had to do was lay out bread crumbs and they approached me. I made it seem as if I were somewhat down on my luck, in need of employment, and they've offered me as much.

[ she looks to lear ] If we can render one or two of you convincing facsimiles, I could bring along a friend or two to the interview.

I've got a spell that would work on meself, and I've brought a disguise kit that should have the right stuff for a pretty convincing snake-blood.

Hopefully, they won't run any actual tests to determine just how cold blooded you really are.
