The "afterparty" is rumored to be the real main event of the night. A black-tie affair in the lavish, opulent ballroom, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).

The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

Hope you aren't shy. They're all here to meet you.

Feel free to make your own open threads for people to come congratulate your newly pledged knight.

ooc; also if your Knight wants to get all gussied up, you can make a Disguise (Cha) check for how good they were at hair/makeup/stylin', etc! This goes for... any time.

[Looming. Yep, that seems about right. Luckily, Vi somehow managed to dress up well this time and she's even rocking heels -- magic is afoot tonight, let's be frank about this. Those heels are the only reason she isn't completely dwarfed by him when she walks over. At least height wise, he could probably still snap her in half with his baby toe.

And I say "walks over" but the reality is oh hey, she just tripped right there. (Dex 7) Unless she's in battle, walking across flat surfaces is just not a good fit. Sorry, she'll just be using David's rippling pectorals to straighten herself out.]

[Well, David totally didn't see her coming so not only does he not catch her, but that drink he's holding is probably splashed over the both of them at this point (reflex save: crit. fail). He manages to fair a little better at staying on his feet (balance check: 12) but he still flails a bit and winds up stepping to the side.

Holy balls is right. Who lets him out in public.]

It's okay. It happens. I'm sorry about the drink.

[Shaking her head, she pulls her dress away from her a little and gives that a shake as well.]

Nah, it's fine. I did sort of barrel into you like a mack truck.

[She looks up with a bright reassuring grin.] Usually I'm covered in dirt, so this is probably a better look for me anyway.

[That gets just a twinge of a smile. A real one, too.]

Me too. But I was trying to prove that I can get away with not looking like a total barbarian.

[not because he particularly cared, but he did want to make a good impression. Also, not stand out.]

You're doing better than me. I tripped on my walk up the Infinite Red Carpet of Intimidation before I got squired in. Like full on tripping, worse than what I just did, in armor. It was epic.

[But she doesn't care, she's physically incapable of making a good first impression, she accept this about herself.] And that was just last month, so... it's not like they had much time to forget it.

I had a bit of a stumble too. I've never really been to a knighting ceremony quite like that.

[the other ones he's been to have been more, well, informal.]

Yeah, like Wynn isn't intimidating enough on his own, there is the added bonus of everyone else: staring you down, watching you fall, judging all up in everyone's face.

[Shrug.] Very pomp and circumstancey.

And here I thought I could dodge that by missing my high school graduation.

[Letting her dress drop back, she wiggles a little when the damp fabric touches her. Ahh, cold. She should change, she will change, just not right at this moment.]

Well, when you get knighted, I'm pretty sure that's like 99% about you too.

Sorry. Is it comforting to know that everyone else has gotta do it? And if it's all about one person, just insert the me falling all over you scenario on to the red carpet and I think you've pretty much got what my knighting will look like.

It would be for the better of all involved really. Well, Kat would probably find it hilarious if I tripped again, but whatever, she can suffer.

She's my mentor or whatever? I'm squired to her. [She searches for the blonde in the room and once spotted, points her out.] That blonde woman, over there.

[he follows her line in vision before nodding.]

Do you know any of the other knights?

Uh, yup. [And she's just gonna point out the ones she knows... of.]

Uh, the bleach blonde guy over there is Spike, I think he's a knight? [She points to Spike, and then each of the others in turn.] That girl zipping around is Andie, she's pretty cool. That is Lis'sa. [She can't really explain that woman.] You know Wynn, obviously. Umm, oh that guy over there is David, he's a squire too.
