It's that time again. New squires would have heard the word come 'round that there would be open weapons orientation this Friday - which is also open to anyone who just wants to come spar with the newbies as well. As before, at the top of the main staircase is the entrance to an incredibly spacious room, that has gym and weight training equipment on the wall near the door, and then lots of old school training dummies and more at the far end. A glass door enters into a firing range, and another pair of large doors on the farthest wall lead to the armory.

Sir Luthir stands off to one side, all impassive elf, armored in his light, beautifully worked metal, and carrying a sword. Red-headed Sir Ironsides hefts an axe over his shoulder and offers a boisterous greeting to those approaching, and Fred helps round people up to the middle of the room.  

Some of the squires' mentor Knights will have accompanied them - others will have left them to their own devices. Everyone's welcome to tag into threads or make their own!

Why, yes, yes! Step right in, laddie. What kind of ammunition are ye lookin' fer?

Anti-vampire, mostly. [No sense beating around the bush about it, right?]

Back where I came from, there was a way to fire wooden rounds without them splintering to pieces before they ever had the chance to hit their mark. You wouldn't happen to have come up with something similar here, would you?

[ he looks rather surprised by the specificity of the question from a new guy but doesn't ask any questions yet ] Well, that's an idea! I can't say I've heard of anything quite like that - most who use firearms against vampires around here stick to silver or blessed bullets - sometimes solar cartridges too! Ye can't stake a vampire with a ballistic weapon, after all, so they all hurt 'em much the same.

So wooden crossbow bolts are a no-go unless they manage to puncture the entire heart?

Well any wood'll hurt 'em, but if you're trying to take one down that way, ye'd better be a damn good shot!

[Not that he wasn't a decent shot, but ... if there were different rules for staking a vamp in this world, then it was likely that it wasn't the only difference. He'd have to look into that later.]

What else have you got?

Well, if yer still lookin fer ways t'fight the undead, that's about it... But you can get bladed weapons with blessings on 'em too, if you want to get in close quarters with the beasties. Silver swords and the like, that'll pack quite a wallop. An' of course, there's clerics with spells what can enchant your weapons even more against 'em.

What about holy water? Same basic idea, right?

Same effect as a blessed blade, but works better fer splashin' several of 'em at once. Good for fillin' grenades!
