[Oh hi, Ric. Fancy meeting you here. She walks up behind him, placing a hand on either shoulder, and peering over at the book he's immersed himself in.]

[He tenses briefly at the touch, but then relaxes just as quickly when he realizes who it is. You really shouldn't sneak up on a vampire hunter like that, gurl.]

Just catching myself up on a few things.

[By reading through a compendium of the various deities that are worshiped here, categorized by origin and alignment. Apparently religion was one thing that was a lot different from the world he remembered ... which made sense considering the different races that lived together here.]

A lot of this stuff is really going to take some getting used to.

[Said as he motions to the open pages, one of which is some likeness of a Spider Queen Goddess or something. Except she probably doesn't realize exactly how out of place a lot of these things seem.]

[She eyes the books, her gaze falling on the history books first, and they seem to pull at her mind briefly, as if at a memory, but it floats away.]

I admit, you've probably caught up more than I have. I've been doing more of the learning on the job thing.

[Which has worked well enough, so far. She's been gone a lot, anyway.]

But I hope I never run into anything like that.

[Nodding her head toward the current page with a grossed out look on her face.]

How's that been working out for you so far, anyway?

I guess I can't complain. I've got access to one of the better libraries I've ever seen, a roof over my head and a steady income.

[He regards her for a brief moment, before smiling a sad little smile.]

Plus, like you said, it feels like the right thing to do.

So have they shipped you out on any of these missions yet?

[Because so far all he's done is sit around and play catch up in the library.]

I actually met them while they were on a mission in New Orleans. I helped out while we were there, and was squired when we came back to London. The mission there is sort of ongoing, so I've been going back and forth between here and there.
