OTA - Phineas returns to the skies...

[Phineas spends the great majority of the flight in the restroom. He has left a lot of his research notes out on his tray table, though, and visits them occasionally - when his stomach permits.]

[Thoster still prefers to travel by land or sea, but after a few jaunts through the sky, he at least can hold this food down. He wanders by his bro's seat because he can't flirt with pretty girls all the time, right?]

How're you holding up, friend?

[Phineas slowly looks up from his notes - though it's not because they're particularly interesting - but because moving without feeling extremely ill takes a great deal of effort...]

I... was hoping this... whole air ship thing would go better with some ale in me. The knights need a new method of travel.

[He laughs through a sympathetic glance, shaking his head as he takes a nearby seat and pats Phineas on the shoulder.]

We'll start a petition upon our return for Wynn to start making use of more civilized means of travel. Unless you're one to get seasick as well?

Been on boats and ships plenty in my lifetime... Never ocean-side, but lakeside plenty... Never once been sea-sick, they used to say I was a natural...

But something about all of this... [He motions about at the plane and windows] Just gets to me...

Believe me, I understand. Should've seen me on my first time up in the air. It gets easier if you try not to think about it- which is easier said than done. Haven't you got enough books to distract yourself with by now?

I've actually read these all a few times through already... I'm just... finishing up my notes on them, but I'm too shaky to write at the moment.

[He shakes his head, laughing lightly.] Never understand your love affair with books, friend, but I commend you for your dedication. Maybe next time you should bring a new one- maybe something exciting.

Or better yet, we could ask someone back at the castle to whip you up a potion to knock you flat on your backside for the whole flight. Can't get sick if you sleep through the whole thing.

That... is actually a phenomenal idea, friend.

I wish I'd thought of it before the trip, eh?

There will be plenty of other trips. Let's just make sure you're better prepared for the next one. [Thoster is a really good bro.]

In the meantime, suppose I best keep you company and make sure you don't make a mess of yourself. [He grins to make a joke of it, but no really- he feels like he should be a little responsible for Phineas' well being.]

Buy me a drink when we get home and we'll call it even. [He grins, because Thoster hasn't wanted for much since he became a Knight and he's not one to hold a favor for ransom.]

Tell me what you've been up to. Just burying your nose in those books again?

[Phineas shrugs feigning resignation, and manages a smile.]

What can I say? There's just so much to study about this place... I've been here months, and I still hardly know what is what.

Though, of course, I make time to visit the watering holes. No good studying with a clear mind...

I thought I was making some decent headway with that pretty little thing Trinall, but now I don't know... My charms seem to have waned in this world. How about yourself, any good sport of late?

[Lissa doesn't just sit down, she's not that ebullient and her nerves are making her agitated, but she stops next to Phineas' seat and taps it gently to get his attention.]

I wanted to apologize.

[Phineas stares up from his notes a bit dazedly.]

W...Wha? Why? [He shakes his head, and throws his hands up.] Don't lose any sleep on my account... We're good.
[Bluff of... 24. Phineas isn't being entirely disingenuous... but he's masking quite a bit of shock at someone actually apologizing to him.]

You, uh... excited for this mission?

[Well, apparently, Lissa completely believes him with her crit fail. Super belief. She tucks her hair behind her ear a bit nervously.]

Excited isn't the word for it. I've never been on one before, I think nervous is more appropriate.

Well, I wouldn't get too worried. This seems like an awfully large team for babysitting someone at a party - and we've got Thoster and old-man Solace along... Here, I was expecting be... I don't know... off battling evil, delving in lost tombs, and the like.

[Phineas sags a bit in his seat. All the tales he's read of knights involve slaying dragons and battling demons... this is not what he expected.]

I'm feeling a bit like an errand boy at the moment.

[Lissa perches on the armrest of the seat across the aisle.] I'll admit that is the sort of thing I think of when I think of knights.

[Though considering how often she was cast as the damsel in distress... she's kind of glad there is a little wiggle room.]

Maybe you'll be in luck and her house will have secret passageways. The Underground Railroad ran through Massachusetts.

[Phineas grins at the notion of secret passages... then he looks extremely confused as she continues...]
The what?

The Underground Railroad? [Don't worry, Phineas, she'll enlighten you. Gather round for fourth grade social studies.] A few hundred years ago, in America, slavery was very prevelant and a lot of people in the north were so against it they created this route, called the Underground Railroad, where they transported slaves from the south to the north so they would be free.

[Phineas takes the whole story in quietly...]

Interesting... so they ferried a lot of people through theses secret passages here? That would be a sight to see.

Yep. The passages doubled as shelters where they slept during the day before they traveled to the next safe house at night.

Fascinating... I wonder what sorts of lost treasures lay hidden in unsuspecting people's houses...

[Phineas ponders for a moment.]
Whatever we find, I'll just be glad to be rid of this flying monstrosity.

[Phineas' face contorts a bit]
It seems I discover deeper depths of... loathing in my heart each time I board one of these things. [He spits the words out]

I tell you what - nothing we have to deal with on this mission will be as bad as this. All downhill from here. [He makes a feeble attempt at a smile]
