The "afterparty" is the real main event of the night at every squiring, but tonight's party is a little different than usual - Faith has successfully lobbied (as in roped people into helping her decorate for) a Chinese New Year's party, or Lunar New Year, theme. With Knights from all over the world, it was easy to get input from those who traditionally celebrate the holiday, and Wynn is all about the spirit of cultural unity. Not to mention, the second of the 15 days of the spring festival is all about spending time with one's family and friends.

The lavish, opulent ballroom has been transformed, filled with red lanterns, peach blossoms, kumquat plants, and chrysanthemums. People are encouraged to dress in red to ward off evil spirits and bad luck, and avail themselves of the New Year's Cake, golden champagne cocktail, rice pudding, candied fruits, and the Tray of Togetherness.

As always, it is every new Knight's chance to mingle and meet some of their new brothers in arms. Of course, a couple hours are provided following the ceremony for everyone to change, do hair and makeup, and choose from the vast array of formal attire in the closets of the balcony "dressing rooms" located at the top of spiraled staircases on either side of the ballroom. A separate dressing room exists for men and women, and they include full bathrooms (with, thankfully, very modern plumbing).
The squires are usually among the last to arrive, and the ballroom is full to the brim with a fancy array of people, of all shapes, sizes and species.

[Oh she's small and redheaded and... alone, which is just a shame. Striding over, Thoster holds his arms out wide like he's greeting an old friend.]

This won't do at all! Point me in the direction of your date. I'll give him quite the verbal lashing for leaving you on your own.

I haven't got a date. [ a beat. ] And if I did, why's he gotta be a bloke, eh? Who's to say it isn't a lady? Or two. Huh? [ yeah, what do you say about that? ] You can give Edain what for if you'd like though, he'd probably see it as a step up, I expect.

The whole ballroom could be your date, from the sounds of it. Nothing meant by it- just didn't think it was right for such a lovely girl to be all alone at a party like this.

That there are. A good deal of them on the dance floor. Care to join them with me. [He holds out a hand and gives his best smile (cha 18).]

[ wow her will save was disgustingly low so even though she wrinkles her nose and scrunches up her face to hide her smile, she takes his hand with a grumpy sort of air.

[Thoster just grins, because haha you can grump but he knows better. (wis 19) He's also a pretty good dancer! (perform: dance 17) It's a faster paced song, so he has one hand in hers and the other at her side so that he can lead her in a galloping sort of jaunt around the dance floor.

Swearing is necessary to my greater enjoyment of life. [ she may say that a little huffily, but ella will always defend her swearing. ]

Did you know "fuck" is one of American English's only infixes? It's literally, like, the only fucking word you can insert into a word so long as it's put in before the stressed syllable.

Um... er. The number of beats in a word? El-la. [ she counts out the syllables on her fingers. ] So, take, um, fantastic. You stress the middle bit, fantastic. So when you use fuck as an infix, you put it before the stressed syllable: fan-fucking-tastic. See?
